(IOC – 15%) SEPT 2014 – MAY 2015Students comment on an extract from a literary text studied in part 4 of the course. (30 marks).

SL Students are given two guiding questions.

Texts:

1) Macbeth – William Shakespeare (Drama, Europe, 16/17thC)

2) Running in The Family – Michael Ondaatje (Prose, 20th C)

3) HL only – Long Day’s Journey Into Night – Eugene O’Neil (Drama 19th C)

12-13 minute commentary

PART 3 – EXAM (PAPER 2) – MAY 2015 – APR 2016 TEXTS AND CONTEXTS (25%)

In response to one of six questions students write an essay based on at least two literary texts studied in part 3. The questions are the same at HL but the assessment criteria are different.

The paper consists of two unseen texts for SL. The paper consists of two sets of unseen texts for HL Guiding Questions provided for SL The exam builds on the skills learned in Parts 1 and 2
