Egyptian Electricity Peak Load Profile Development

Growth rate for peak load 5% from 07/2008 to 2011/2012. The loads increase in peak period is supplied by low efficient gas turbines leads to higher rates of

consumption of fuel in addition to large investment to establish power stations that cover this peak period.

Household Appliances

Major appliances

air conditioner, freezer, refrigerator, washing machine, water heater, air Fan, dishwasher, TV, clothes dryer, Kettle, kitchen electric hot plate, Electric furnace, microwave, and building circulator pumps.

Small appliances

Grill, toaster, mixer, vacuum cleaner, DVD players, MP3 player video game, HiFi and home cinema, telephones, answering machines, coffee maker, computer, laptop, printer, scanner, hair dryer, heater and iron

Selecting Criteria for Household Appliances

A. Degree of saturation for the use of household appliances

B. Share of household appliances in energy consumption

C. Growth rates

D. Expected savings

E. Operation during the peak load period
