The City of College Station is offering up to $800 cash rebate to College Station Utilities electric customers who purchase and install whole system central air conditioning units (16 SEER or higher rating), air-to-air pumps or geothermal heat pumps. HOW TO GET YOUR REBATE Rebates only apply for replacements in existing homes. To qualify, the A/C system must be 16 SEER or higher and must be sized more than 12,000 BTU’s (1 ton) for every 500 square feet of conditioned space. Any variance in sizing must be first be approved by College Station Utilities before installation. Both the evaporator coil (inside unit) and the condensing unit (outside unit) must be replaced as a matching system as rated by in the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) directory. The AHRI reference number must be noted on the application. After installation of your new A/C system, please follow up with the installer to schedule a final installation inspection with a City of College Station Building Inspector through the Planning & Development Services Office. The inspector will inspect the installation for code compliance and verify equipment replacement. After verification, the rebate will be mailed directly to you within three to four weeks from College Station Utilities. SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio and is the means by which air conditioning systems are rated for efficiency. The higher

the SEER value, the more efficiently the system operates, which will save you money and

assist in reducing the peak demand placed on the city's electrical system placed on the city's electrical system

during the summer months.

College Station Utilities will not be liable if the cooling or heating capacity of the selected system cannot meet the needs of the consumer. The system indicated above must be installed in accordance with the current ICC building and City of College Station Codes. The purchaser understands that the equipment and installation must be inspected by a City of College Station building inspector and approved by the College Station Utilities Energy Conservation Division prior to payment of rebate. The rebate may be terminated at any time, without notice, by College Station Utilities. Filing a Rebate Application in no way obligates the City of College Station or College Station Utilities to pay a rebate.
