BIOMASS
Biomass is energy that is developed from organic materials, a renewable and sustainable source of energy used to create electricity or other forms of power. Generally speaking biomass is the organic material produced by the photosynthesis of light. The chemical materials are stored and can then be used to generate energy. The most common biomass used for energy is wood from trees. Some examples of biomass fuel are scrap lumber, forest debris, certain crops, manure, some types of waste residues.
An example of how biomass energy works is steam. The water is heated and transforms into steam within a boiler operating at a high pressure. When expanded through pistons or turbines, mechanical work is done. The reduced-pressure steam is then condensed and pumped back into the boiler.
Like all things here on earth biomass energy has a good and bad side. Here are some of the advantages of biomass energy according to my research. Biomass energy has no harmful emissions, clean energy, abundant and renewable, reduces landfills. The bad side of biomass energy is that it is expensive, inefficient compared to fossil fuels, harmful to the environment, requires more land.
