ENERGISE NETWORKCREATING A NETWORK TO HELP BUSINESSES GO ELECTRIC.

What is the network?

•Energise Network is creating a network of rapid charge points across the South East of England, covering Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

•The network will provide charging points to enable people to extend their electric and hybrid vehicle journeys. Allowing people to travel beyond the normal 100 mile range.

•The network will provide the charging infrastructure for businesses and the public to look at electric vehicles as a serious transport option for the future.

Why develop the network.

•Help provide infrastructure to assist in the uptake of zero/ultra-low emission vehicles in the UK.

•Reduce emissions of CO2.

•Reduce air pollution.

•Improve local air quality.

Rapid Charging

•The network will integrate existing public charging stations in the SE and link to other networks across the UK and EU.

•This will enable drivers/businesses to extend the range of travel, by having frequent and rapid re-charging facilities.

Rapid chargers will: •Re-charge eV’s within 30-40 minutes.•Extend journeys by 80-90 miles.•Publically accessible to all eV’s (incl. Tesla)•Within 1-2 miles of most Mways/A-roads •PAYG

eV - Jargon-busting

Charging points: Supply Typical time*(20-30kW)•Slow 3kW (AC) 16- 24 hrs•Fast 7kW (AC) 4 – 6 hrs•Rapid(Quick) 50/22kW (DC/AC) 30-40mins (80%)•Super (Tesla only) 80 -100kW (DC) 30 -90mins

Connectors/plugs:• 13A /Type 2 - domestic/slow charge• ChADEMo/CCS/Type 2 - fast/rapid/super

Batteries*: 10, 22, 30, 50, 85kWCapacity, % required and delivery method(AC/DC) determines time to re-charge

Why electric?

Government provides Plug-in Vehicle grant which reduces the initial cost. This provides a subsidy of: •25 % = up to £5,000, towards the cost of an electric car•20 % = up to £8,000, towards the cost of an electric van

Why electric? Running costs:Plug-in cars offer a number of potential savings compared to conventional vehicles:

•A full charge will cost approx. £2 to £3 = typical range of 100 miles.

•Driving 100 miles in a petrol/diesel car will cost around £12 to £18.

•Plug-in vehicles are currently exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty (road tax).

•For company car drivers, there is zero 'Benefit in Kind' company car tax

•For drivers in London, plug-in cars are eligible for a 100% discount from

the London Congestion Charge, worth up to £2,400 a year. London ULEZ

(2018/20) exempt will also save £12/day = £4,380 (central London).

What businesses would consider electric vehicles?

Typically businesses: •Which do regular routes and mileages under 80 miles/day.•Frequently back-to-base/satelite offices for re-charging.•Pool-car scenario.* Rapid chargers will now extend ranges and not limit ad-hoc journeys.

What would you need:•Suitable eV or hybrid•Charging point at business (+ home)•Join eV networks (in your region)
