ENERCON Canada creates 50 new jobs in Niagara Establishes High Quality Wind Turbine Electronics Manufacturing Facility in Ontario
ENERCON Canada announced today the establishment of its first On-
tario manufacturing facility in Beamsville. The facility, Niagara Electric
Inc. will manufacture electric parts for converters and control panels
to meet the increasing demands of ENERCON’s Ontario and Canadian-
based renewable energy projects, along with its international market.
At a press conference earlier today, ENERCON Canada’s Executive Vice
President joined the Regional Chair of Niagara, the Mayor of Lincoln
and the Dean of Applied Sciences of Niagara College to announce the
facility. The approximately 38,000ft² facility will bring approximately
50 full-time employees to the Niagara region and will produce up to
60 different types of electrical cabinetry for use in ENERCON’s wind
turbines and growing solar base.
Committed to local employment, ENERCON has already commenced
the first wave of hires. Over the coming months, the search will
continue for purchasing and production planners, warehousing clerks,
certified electricians, electronics assemblers, as well as accounting,
administrative and controlling staff.
«ENERCON is thrilled to bring this investment to Niagara and to
become members of the local Lincoln community,» said ENERCON
Canada’s Executive Vice President Michael Weidemann. «This factory
is the first of its kind for ENERCON outside of its home market of
Germany.»
«Today’s announcement and opening is an important signal to our
Ontario and Canadian customers that ENERCON stands behind its
commitments and stresses the importance of the Ontario wind market
within our Canadian and international operations,» Weidemann conti-
nued.
«Renewable energy is the way of the future. This project demonstrates
our commitment to building a clean, modern and reliable electricity
system. By investing in clean energy infrastructure, we’re helping
transform the province’s electricity system, creating good clean jobs
and ensuring cleaner air for future generations,» stated Ontario Minis-
ter of Energy Chris Bentley.
«Today’s announcement by ENERCON Canada is another example of
Ontario’s successful clean energy program that is attracting interna-
tional investment and new jobs to our communities,» stated Ontario’s
Minister of Economic Development and Innovation, Brad Duguid.
«ENERCON’s investment in the Niagara economy proves that the
Green Energy Act is successful in creating jobs and moving towards
a more sustainable and prosperous tomorrow,» said Kim Craitor, MPP
for Niagara Falls. «I’m proud that the Ontario government has stayed
the course so that we can reap the rewards today and for future
generations.»
«This renewable energy manufacturing commitment brings high value
jobs to Niagara at a time when our economy is in recovery», said
Regional Chair Gary Burroughs. «Today’s announcement is the product
of months of hard work and dedication by both Niagara Region’s staff
and ENERCON Canada. We recognize this investment as strengthening
Niagara’s position as a leader in renewable energy in North America».
«The Town of Lincoln welcomes ENERCON Canada to the local
community and looks forward to working together to attract jobs
and continued economic investment. We are proud that ENERCON
recognizes the value of our community – its people and its strength as
a manufacturing hub for their products,» said Bill Hodgson, Mayor of
the Town of Lincoln.
Established in Germany in 1984, ENERCON is a leader in wind turbine
