The sale of Indulgences, commonly regarded as a purchase of forgivenessand a permit to indulge in sin. Christianity, as taught in the Bible, condemnssuch a traffic and it was the protest against this traffic (in part) that brought onthe Protestant Reformation in the 16th century.
