Ushuaia Jail was created in 1896 when the fist convicts (guilty of serious crimes, many for lifetime or long sentences ) were sent here, the idea was to colonize with themThe motto was Work, Silence, Order and DisciplineThe system was bassed on work for lifetime with little salaryThank to the convicts a railway was built in 1910 and became the southernmost railway in the worldThe prisom was closed in 1947
