THE WHY, HOW, WHAT OF ENACTUS WEEK

Why?

We believe that socially conscious, entrepreneurial leaders can change the world

How?

We want to generate conversations around how to advance the economic, social & environmental health of our communities, our country and our world, one simple act at a time

What?

Enactus Week is a week long campaign to inspire individuals to make change in their communities

HOW TO BE INVOLVED: THE 2 PRONG STRATEGY

• Organizing events and activities that will demonstrate how your Enactus team is making change in your community Individual Team

• Challenge the public and your local partners to #makechange

• Share the work of your team and all your events and activities during the week through the #makechange SM campaign

ACTIVITIES & EVENTS

• We would like to see teams organize activities

(maybe even one per day!) to demonstrate how your

team is making change in your community

• Each day during Enactus Week, there will be a

specific theme. This is to keep events & SM activities

across the country consistent throughout the week

• With all of us doing small activities and focusing on

the same themes, we can have a BIG impact

EMPOWERING CANADIANS

Every Enactus project has a goal of empowering people and changing

individual lives. In a world where many people feel they are unable to

#makechange or change aspects of their lives, Enactus is a powerful

movement that demonstrates making change is possible.

Potential Examples:

• Installation: put up a quote wall on campus or even at city hall for

people to write their favorite inspirational quotes

• Create social media posts (with images!) that showcase your projects

and how you are empowering Canadians

REALIZING FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE

The most basic means of dignity involves having control over one’s

financial independence. Enactus teams across the country teach people

basic skills such as budgeting, forecasting, cost control and help them

start businesses in order to improve livelihoods.

Potential Examples:

• Host a budgeting seminar or a financial workshop in your local

community to help people manage their financial situation e.g. debt,

low income

• Teach single mothers to make nutritious meals for their children on a

shoe string budget

CREATING ENTREPRENEURS

Entrepreneurship is at the heart of Enactus. It creates success,

encourages innovation problem solving and develops excellent

transferable skills for any workplace. Whether you host entrepreneurship

competitions or empower people to start their own businesses, Enactus

teams across Canada are creating entrepreneurs.

Potential Examples:

• Partner with your local Chamber of Commerce to host a meet & greet

with local entrepreneurs

• Host a seminar on social entrepreneurship

ACHIEVING SUSTAINABILITY

Because Enactus strives to improve livelihoods economically, socially

and environmentally, achieving sustainability is top of mind for our

business and community leaders. We believe creating social good &

achieving sustainability does not necessarily mean sacrificing profits.

Potential Examples:

• Build and/or help plant a community garden

• Create a local marketplace or booth to sell repurposed products

related to your projects

• Organize a local clean up within your community

FOSTERING LEADERSHIP

Enactus creates leaders with the courage and commitment to challenge

the status quo. The unique advantage of Enactus is our powerful union of

entrepreneurial and socially conscious (current and future) business and

community leaders.

Potential Examples:

• Host a seminar with industry leaders discussing their leadership

experiences

• Share a personal video that explains how Enactus has made you a

better leader

LET YOUR CREATIVITY RUN WILD!!!

On Nov. 25th (theme: creating entrepreneurs),

put up an idea board like Enactus Ryerson

where people can showcase their

entrepreneurial spirit

Tip: Be sure to prominently showcase the

#makechange hashtag

LET YOUR CREATIVITY RUN WILD!!!

On Nov 26th (theme: achieving sustainability), create a guerilla marketing campaign…maybe with an actual gorilla! Enactus Sheridan created this monster out of recycled water bottles and placed it outside a water fountain on their campus. Maybe this year they’ll put it up in Square One!

Tip: Create signage or have your team on site to encourage people to take their picture with your installation and post it to social media with the hashtag #makechange

PHOTOS, VIDEOS AND MORE PHOTOS

Whatever you do, don’t forget to

take plenty of photos and videos of

your amazing activities and events,

and share them on your social

media platforms with the

#makechange hashtag!!!

TAKE IT NATIONAL: YOUR EVENT COULD BE PROFILED AS A NATIONAL EVENT

• Enactus Canada will be selecting one event/activity for each theme to promote on our official website and social media channels as a National Event

• The chosen events will receive support from the National Office to help make the event a success

• The National Event will also be live streamed to the world through the Enactus Canada Periscope Channel

well (creating posts that showcase your projects, past or

present, to inspire people to take action)

CHALLENGE PEOPLE TO #MAKECHANGE: EXAMPLES & IDEAS

2. Nominate friends and family members as well as local partners

and donors to #makechange in their community and, in turn,

challenge others

INVOLVE YOUR LOCAL PARTNERS & DONORS

• Engage your local partners & donors to help with one of your events

• Get all your local partners on board to help us challenge Canadians to #makechange in their communities during Enactus Week

• Enactus Canada will provide a social media guide and further information that you can share with your local partners and donors to encourage them to participate in the #makechange campaign

Enactus Canada will provide:

THUNDERCLAP CAMPAIGN

• This year Enactus Canada will be using

Thunderclap to amplify the #makechange

campaign

• This first ever crowd speaking platform

allows a single message to be mass

shared on social media platforms

• The goal is to get #makechange trending

THUNDERCLAP CAMPAIGN (CONTINUED)

• For the #makechange campaign, Enactus Canada will create messaging surrounding the campaign that will be launched to various social media platforms on a specific date

• You (and everyone you know!) can help #makechange by signing up for the campaign (which is basically just agreeing to share the same message through your social media platforms)

• When Enactus Week arrives, Thunderclap will automatically post or tweet the same message to everyone’s social media platforms at the exact same time to create a large social media noise; A THUNDERCLAP!!!

WHAT TYPE OF SUPPORT WOULD YOU NEED FROM NATIONAL OFFICE FOR ENACTUS WEEK?
