LMVA Board of Directors Election UpdateOnce again the annual process of electing members to the LMVA Board of Directors is upon us. Interested LMV members are encouraged to follow procedures outlined below to obtain a leadership role and become active in the LMVA community.

The Lake Mission Viejo Association Annual Election process begins on Monday, August 20th when Board of Directors Candidate Declaration forms are available to prospective Board Candidates. Candidate Declarations can be downloaded from the Lake website at www.LakeMissionViejo.org, and they are also available in the LMV administrative offices. The deadline for submission is

Monday, September 24th at 5:00 pm. All potential Candidates must fill out the application form, “Declaration of Candidacy.” Candidates for the Board must meet the requirements as outlined in the Election rules. Once the potential candidate has been determined to be qualified and meets the requirements stated in the Election Rules, they may be considered a “Candidate” for the Board of Director’s Election.

An informal Candidates’ Forum will be scheduled for Tuesday, October 23rd at 6 p.m. in the Lake Clubhouse so that candidates may introduce themselves to the Delegates and answer any potential questions.

The culmination of the election process occurs following the October 23rd Candidates Forum at 7:00 pm at the Annual Meeting of the Lake Delegates. The election of the Board of Directors takes place at this meeting.

Three Board positions are up for election in 2018. A quorum of District Delegates representing twenty-five percent (25%) of the membership is required to conduct the election. The District Delegates will then cast votes to elect Board positions. Look for information in the September issue of the LMVA Newsletter on how to become a District Delegate, or call LMVA at (949) 770-1313, ext. 201.

Mark your calendars now!

Join us for LMV’s most popular end-of-summer event 4:00-10:00 pm, Saturday, September 15th.

Headlining this year’s festivities: SPYRO GYRASPYRO GYRA is an unlikely story of a group with humble beginnings in Buffalo, NY who has continued to reach an international audience for over forty years, resulting in sales of over 10 million albums and over five thousand shows on five continents. These contemporary jazz icons observed their fortieth year as a band in 2014 with shows featuring their breakthrough Morning Dance album.

They released their last, their 30th, album of new material The Rhinebeck Sessions in 2013; which JazzTimes called “inspired.” Travis Rogers of the Jazz Journalists Association picked it for Jazz Album Of The Year. Something Else Reviews called it “Their finest album since their early 80s heyday” and made it a Top-Twenty pick for the year. George Harris of the Jazz Weekly enthused, “I gotta tell ya, these guys still sound GREAT.”“My hope is that our music has the same effect on the audience that it does on me,” says group leader Jay Beckenstein. “I’ve always felt that music, and particularly instrumental music, has this non-literal quality that lets people travel to a place where there are no words. Whether it’s touching their emotions or connecting them to something that reminds them of something much bigger than themselves, there’s this beauty in music that’s not connected to sentences. It’s very transportive. I would hope that when people hear our music or come to see us, they’re able to share that with us.”

Look for all artists and restaurants to be announced in the September issue!

Thank you for your patience and cooperation in helping to make access to LMVA concerts a safe and pleasant experience for members and guests alike. For updates call the Concert Hotline at (949) 770-1313, ext. 311.

Don’t Leave Home Without It!Your Lake membership ID badge is your access to visit the Lake. It doesn’t matter if it is your first visit in a long time or if yours is a familiar face at the front gates; your LMVA membership picture ID badge is required to gain entrance. Not only does this special ID badge allow you access into the facilities and boat rentals, it also serves as your free ticket to seven great concert events each season. Please remember that all concert lottery attendees must present a valid membership ID badge in order to take part in the concert seating lottery. LMVA’s picture ID badge references both the property as well as the individual through a barcode system and is issued to all members eight years-old and up. All members are required to show their membership ID badges when entering the facilities. If you arrive at the Gate without it, you will be turned away. A member who has lost or misplaced his/her ID badge but has other identification proving residency (i.e. Driver’s License) can purchase a temporary pass for $10 at the Gate. This pass is good for ten days and can be exchanged for a new ID badge (if you cannot locate your original ID badge) at the Membership Office. If you bring your original ID badge to the Membership Office within ten days, you can obtain a refund of the price of the temporary pass.

Most members have been very cooperative as we have encouraged staff to be diligent in checking membership identification at the gates. Make sure you always have your membership ID badge readily available when approaching the friendly staff at the LMVA Gates or within the park facilities. The Board of Directors and Management would like to thank members for their efforts to help make LMV a safe and secure environment.

All CONCERTS: Saturday evenings at 7:00 pm. JAZZFEST & TASTE OF THE LAKE begins at 4:00 pm. All show times are approximate and artists are subject to change without notice. See Concert Entrance Procedures on this page.
