1.1 Children and vulnerable people safety• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years

and above and by persons with reduced capabilitiesprovided that they have been given instruction and/orsupervision regarding the safe use of the applianceand understand the potential hazards involved.

• Do not let children play with the appliance.• Children shall not carry out cleaning and user

maintenance of the appliance without supervision.• Keep all packaging away from children and dispose of

it appropriately.

1.2 General Safety• This appliance is intended to be used in household

and similar applications such as:– Farm houses; staff kitchen areas in shops, offices

and other working environments– By clients in hotels, motels, bed and breakfast and

other residential type environments• Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance enclosure

or in the built-in structure, clear of obstruction.• Do not use mechanical devices or other means to

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced bythe manufacturer, its Authorised Service Centre orsimilarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS2.1 Installation

WARNING!Only a qualified person mustinstall this appliance.

• Remove all the packaging and thetransit bolts.

• Do not install or use a damagedappliance.

• Follow the installation instructionsupplied with the appliance.

• Always take care when moving theappliance as it is heavy. Always usesafety gloves and enclosed footwear.

• Make sure the air can circulatearound the appliance.

• Wait at least 4 hours beforeconnecting the appliance to the powersupply. This is to allow the oil to flowback in the compressor.

• Do not install the appliance close toradiators or cookers, oven or hobs.

• The rear of the appliance must standagainst the wall.

• Do not install the appliance wherethere is direct sunlight.

• Do not install this appliance in areasthat are too humid or too colds, suchas the construction appendices,garages or wine cellars.

• When you move the appliance, lift itby the front edge to avoid scratchingthe floor.

2.2 Electrical connectionWARNING!Risk of fire and electricalshock.

• The appliance must be earthed.• Make sure that the electrical

information on the rating plate agrees

with the power supply. If not, contactan electrician.

• Always use a correctly installedshockproof socket.

• Do not use multi-plug adapters andextension cables.

• Make sure not to cause damage tothe electrical components (e.g. mainsplug, mains cable, compressor).Contact the Authorised ServiceCentre or an electrician to change theelectrical components.

• The mains cable must stay below thelevel of the mains plug.

• Connect the mains plug to the mainssocket only at the end of theinstallation. Make sure that there isaccess to the mains plug after theinstallation.

• Do not pull the mains cable todisconnect the appliance. Always pullthe mains plug.

2.3 UseWARNING!Risk of injury, burns,electrical shock or fire.

• Do not change the specification of thisappliance.

• Do not put electrical appliances (e.g.ice cream makers) in the applianceunless they are stated applicable bythe manufacturer.

• Be careful not to cause damage to therefrigerant circuit. It containsisobutane (R600a), a natural gas witha high level of environmentalcompatibility. This gas is flammable.

• If damage occurs to the refrigerantcircuit, make sure that there are noflames and sources of ignition in theroom. Ventilate the room.

• Do not let hot items to touch theplastic parts of the appliance.

• Do not put soft drinks in the freezercompartment. This will createpressure on the drink container.

• Do not store flammable gas and liquidin the appliance.

• Do not put flammable products oritems that are wet with flammableproducts in, near or on the appliance.

• Do not touch the compressor or thecondenser. They are hot.

• Do not remove or touch items fromthe freezer compartment if your handsare wet or damp.

• Do not freeze again food that hasbeen thawed.

• Obey the storage instructions on thepackaging of frozen food.

2.4 Care and cleaningWARNING!Risk of injury or damage tothe appliance.

• Before maintenance, deactivate theappliance and disconnect the mainsplug from the mains socket.

• This appliance contains hydrocarbonsin the cooling unit. Only a qualified

person must do the maintenance andthe recharging of the unit.

• Regularly examine the drain of theappliance and if necessary, clean it. Ifthe drain is blocked, defrosted watercollects in the bottom of theappliance.

2.5 DisposalWARNING!Risk of injury or suffocation.

• Disconnect the appliance from themains supply.

• Cut off the mains cable and discard it.• Remove the door to prevent children

and pets to be closed inside of theappliance.

• The refrigerant circuit and theinsulation materials of this applianceare ozone-friendly.

3.3 Switching on1. Connect the mains plug to the power

The alarm buzzer couldoperate after few seconds.To reset the alarm refer to"High temperature alarm".

To select a different set temperaturerefer to "Temperature regulation".If "DEMO" appears on the display, referto "Troubleshooting" .

3.4 Switching offPress ON/OFF for 3 seconds.The display switches off.To disconnect the appliance from thepower, disconnect the mains plug fromthe power socket.

3.5 Switching on the fridgeTo switch on the fridge press the fridgecompartment button.The fridge OFF indicator goes off.

To select a different settemperature refer to"Temperature regulation".

3.6 Switching off the fridgeTo switch off the fridge press the fridgecompartment button for few seconds.The fridge OFF indicator is shown.

3.7 Temperature regulationSet the temperature of the appliance bypressing the temperature regulators.Default set temperature:

• +4°C for the fridge• -18°C for the freezer

The temperature indicators show the settemperature.

The set temperature will bereached within 24 hours.After a power failure the settemperature remains stored.

3.8 Holiday modeThis function allows you to keep therefrigerator closed and empty during a

long holiday period without the formationof a bad smell.

The fridge compartmentmust be empty with Holidaymode on.

1. To switch on the function press Modeuntil the corresponding icon appears.

The Holiday indicator goes on.The fridge temperature indicator showsthe set temperature.2. To switch off the function press Mode

in order to select an other function orpress Mode until you can see none ofthe special icons.

The Holiday indicator goes off.The function switches off byselecting a different fridgeset temperature.

3.9 Shopping modeIf you need to insert a large amount ofwarm food, for example after doing thegrocery shopping, we suggest activatingthe Shopping to chill the products morerapidly and to avoid warming the otherfood which is already in the refrigerator.The Shopping shuts off automaticallyafter approximately 6 hours.1. To switch on the function press Mode

until the corresponding icon appears.The Shopping indicator goes on.2. To switch off the function press Mode

in order to select an other function orpress Mode until you can see none ofthe special icons.

The Shopping indicator goes off.The function switches off byselecting a different fridgeset temperature.

3.10 Eco modeFor optimal food storage select the Ecomode.1. Select the fridge/freezer

compartment2. To switch on the function press Mode

until the corresponding icon appears.

The temperature indicator shows the settemperature for the:

• fridge: +4°C• freezer: -18°C

3. To switch off the function before itsautomatic end repeat the procedureuntil the Eco indicator goes off.

The function switches offby selecting a differentset temperature.

3.11 DrinksChill modeThe DrinksChill mode is to be used to setan acoustic alarm at the preferred time,useful for example when a reciperequires to cool down a mixture for acertain period of time, or when areminder is needed in order not to forgetthe bottles placed in the freezer for fastcooling.1. To switch on the function press ON/

OFF .The DrinksChill indicator appears.The timer shows the set value (30 min).2. Press the temperature colder button

and temperature warmer button tochange the timer set value from 1 to90 (min).

The timer indicator is shown (min).At the end of the countdown theDrinksChill indicator flashes and anaudible alarm sounds3. Remove any drinks contained in the

freezer compartment.4. Press ON/OFF to switch off the

sound and terminate the function. It is possible todeactivate the function atany time during thecountdown by pressingON/OFF. The DrinksChillindicator goes off.

It is possible to changethe time during thecountdown and at theend by pressing thetemperature colderbutton and thetemperature warmerbutton.

3.12 FastFreeze modeThis function stops automatically after 52hours.To switch on the function:1. Select the freezer compartment.2. Press Mode until the corresponding

icon appears.The FastFreeze indicator is shown.3. To switch off the function before its

automatic end, repeat the procedure The function switches offby selecting a differentfreezer set temperature.

3.13 High temperature alarmAn increase in the temperature in thefreezer compartment (for example due toan earlier power failure or opening of thedoor) is indicated by:• flashing the alarm and freezer

temperature indicators;

• sounding of buzzer.To reset the alarm press any button.The buzzer switches off.The freezer temperature indicator showsthe highest temperature reached for afew seconds. Then show again the settemperature.The alarm indicator continues to flashuntil the normal conditions are restored.

When the alarm hasreturned the alarm indicatorgoes off.

3.14 Door open alarmAn acoustic alarm will sound if the door isleft open for a few minutes. The dooropen alarm conditions are indicated by:• flashing Alarm light• acoustic buzzerWhen normal conditions are restored(door closed), the alarm will stop.During the alarm, the buzzer can beswitched off by pressing alarm button.

4. DAILY USEWARNING!Refer to Safety chapters.

4.1 Cleaning the interiorBefore using the appliance for the firsttime, the interior and all internalaccessories should be washed withlukewarm water and some neutral soapto remove the typical smell of a brand-new product, then dried thoroughly.

CAUTION!Do not use detergents orabrasive powders, as thesewill damage the finish.

4.2 Positioning the doorshelvesTo permit storage of food packages ofvarious sizes, the door shelves can beplaced at different heights.

1. Gradually pull the shelf in thedirection of the arrows until it comesfree.

2. Reposition as required.

This model is equipped with avariable storage box which can bemoved sideways.

4.3 Movable shelvesThe walls of the refrigerator are equippedwith a series of runners so that theshelves can be positioned as desired.

Do not move the glass shelfabove the vegetable drawerto ensure correct aircirculation.

4.4 Humidity controlThe glass shelf incorporates a devicewith slits (adjustable by means of asliding lever), which makes it possible toregulate the humidity in the vegetabledrawer(s).

When the ventilation slots are closed:the natural moisture content of the foodin the fruit and vegetable compartmentsis preserved for longer.When the ventilation slots are opened:more air circulation results in a lower airmoisture content in the fruit andvegetable compartments.

4.5 Freezing fresh foodThe freezer compartment is suitable forfreezing fresh food and storing frozenand deep-frozen food for a long time.To freeze fresh food activate theFastFreeze function and place the foodto be frozen in the freezer compartment.To freeze fresh food activate theFastFreeze function at least 24 hoursbefore placing the food to be frozen inthe freezer compartment.Place the fresh food to be frozen in thetop compartment.The maximum amount of food that canbe frozen in 24 hours is specified on the rating plate, a label located on theinside of the appliance.The freezing process lasts 24 hours:during this period do not add other foodto be frozen.When the freezing process is completed,return to the required temperature (see"FastFreeze Function").

In this condition, therefrigerator compartmenttemperature might dropbelow 0°C. If this occursreset the temperatureregulator to a warmersetting.

4.6 Storage of frozen foodWhen first starting-up or after a periodout of use, before putting the products inthe compartment let the appliance run atleast 2 hours on the higher settings.

In the event of accidentaldefrosting, for example dueto a power failure, if thepower has been off forlonger than the value shownin the technicalcharacteristics chart under"rising time", the defrostedfood must be consumedquickly or cookedimmediately and then re-frozen (after cooling).

4.7 ThawingDeep-frozen or frozen food, prior tobeing used, can be thawed in therefrigerator compartment or at roomtemperature, depending on the timeavailable for this operation.Small pieces may even be cooked stillfrozen, directly from the freezer: in thiscase, cooking will take longer.

4.8 Ice-cube productionThis appliance is equipped with one ormore trays for the production of ice-cubes.

Do not use metallicinstruments to remove thetrays from the freezer.

compartment.

4.9 Cold accumulatorsThe freezer contains at least one coldaccumulator which increases storagetime in the event of a power cut orbreakdown.This shall be placed on top of the frozenfood in the front part.

5. HINTS AND TIPS5.1 Normal operating soundsThe following sounds are normal duringoperation:• A faint gurgling and bubbling sound

from coils sound when refrigerant ispumped.

• A whirring and pulsating sound fromthe compressor when refrigerant ispumped.

• A sudden cracking noise from insideappliance caused by thermic dilatation(a natural and not dangerous physicalphenomenon).

• A faint click noise from thetemperature regulator when thecompressor switches on or off.

5.2 Hints for energy saving• Do not open the door frequently or

leave it open longer than absolutelynecessary.

• If foreseen, do not remove the coldaccumulators from the freezer basket.

5.3 Hints for fresh foodrefrigerationTo obtain the best performance:• do not store warm food or evaporating

liquids in the refrigerator• do cover or wrap the food, particularly

if it has a strong flavour

• position food so that air can circulatefreely around it

5.4 Hints for refrigerationUseful hints:• Meat (all types): wrap in a suitable

packaging and place it on the glassshelf above the vegetable drawer.Store meat for at most 1-2 days.

• Cooked foods, cold dishes: cover andplace on any shelf.

• Fruit and vegetables: clean thoroughlyand place in a special drawer.Bananas, potatoes, onions and garlicmust not be kept in the refrigerator ifnot packed.

• Butter and cheese: place in a specialairtight container or wrap in analuminium foil or a polythene bag toexclude as much air as possible.

• Bottles: close with a cap and place onthe door bottle shelf, or (if available)on the bottle rack.

5.5 Hints for freezingTo help you make the most of thefreezing process, here are someimportant hints:• the maximum quantity of food which

can be frozen in 24 hours is shown onthe rating plate;

• the freezing process takes 24 hoursno further food to be frozen should beadded during this period;

• freeze only top quality, fresh andthoroughly cleaned, foodstuffs;

• prepare food in small portions toenable it to be rapidly and completelyfrozen and to make it possiblesubsequently to thaw only the quantityrequired;

• wrap up the food in aluminium foil orpolythene and make sure that thepackages are airtight;

• do not allow fresh, unfrozen food totouch food which is already frozen,thus avoiding a rise in temperature ofthe latter;

• lean foods store better and longerthan fatty ones; salt reduces thestorage life of food;

• water ices, if consumed immediatelyafter removal from the freezercompartment, can possibly cause theskin to be freeze burnt;

• it is advisable to show the freezing indate on each individual pack toenable you to keep tab of the storagetime.

5.6 Hints for storage of frozenfoodTo obtain the best performance from thisappliance, you should:• make sure that the commercially

frozen foodstuffs were adequatelystored by the retailer;

• be sure that frozen foodstuffs aretransferred from the foodstore to thefreezer in the shortest possible time;

• not open the door frequently or leaveit open longer than absolutelynecessary;

• once defrosted, food deterioratesrapidly and cannot be refrozen;

• do not exceed the storage periodindicated by the food manufacturer.

6. CARE AND CLEANINGWARNING!Refer to Safety chapters.

6.1 General warningsCAUTION!Unplug the appliance beforecarrying out anymaintenance operation.

This appliance containshydrocarbons in its coolingunit; maintenance andrecharging must thereforeonly be carried out byauthorized technicians.

The accessories and parts ofthe appliance are notsuitable for washing in adishwasher.

6.2 Periodic cleaningCAUTION!Do not pull, move or damageany pipes and/or cablesinside the cabinet.

CAUTION!Take care of not to damagethe cooling system.

CAUTION!When moving the cabinet, liftit by the front edge to avoidscratching the floor.

The equipment has to be cleanedregularly:1. Clean the inside and accessories

with lukewarm water and someneutral soap.

2. Regularly check the door seals andwipe clean to ensure they are cleanand free from debris.

3. Rinse and dry thoroughly.4. If accessible, clean the condenser

and the compressor at the back ofthe appliance with a brush.This operation will improve theperformance of the appliance andsave electricity consumption.

6.3 Defrosting of therefrigeratorFrost is automatically eliminated from theevaporator of the refrigeratorcompartment every time the motorcompressor stops, during normal use.The defrost water drains out through atrough into a special container at theback of the appliance, over the motorcompressor, where it evaporates.It is important to periodically clean thedefrost water drain hole in the middle ofthe refrigerator compartment channel toprevent the water overflowing anddripping onto the food inside.

6.4 Defrosting the freezerThe freezer compartment is frost free.This means that there is no build up offrost when it is in operation, neither onthe internal walls nor on the foods.

6.5 Periods of non-operationWhen the appliance is not in use for longperiods, take the following precautions:1. Disconnect the appliance from

electricity supply.2. Remove all food.3. Leave the door/doors open to

prevent unpleasant smells.

WARNING!If you want to keep theappliance switched on, asksomebody to check it oncein a while to prevent the foodinside from spoiling in caseof a power failure.We recommend activatingHoliday mode.
