This is not a permanent building and is here only to get us through until the four new classrooms are built. Due to the expected student numbers next year we also need to turn our current IPad room into a classroom. We will still have IPad lessons but they will be held in existing classes. At this point we are expecting to grow from our existing 19 clas- ses to 21 classes in 2016. Late next week every child from Year Prep to 5 will be given a personalised letter. This letter will contain each stu- dent’s Education ID. This EQ ID can be used to keep track of their class, teacher and room for next year. This year will be the first time we will be trialling posting the entire roll class structure onto our web site. Student’s names will not be included, instead they will be replaced by your child’s Education Qld ID. Your child’s EQ ID can be found on the very bottom of their “State School Report Card”. The link to the class list can be found on the front of our web site or by following this link. https://emuparkss.eq.edu.au/Supportandresources/ Formsanddocuments/Documents/Classes2016.pdf Over the holiday break there will be a number of students moved across all of the classes to compensate for the movement of students in and out of the school. Each time the list is updated we will notify you via a text message using the QParents app. If you do not have the QParents app follow this link for more information. http://deta.qld.gov.au/about/app/qschools-app.html I wish you and your family a happy and safe holiday. Before signing off for the year I acknowledge the incredible work and commitment of Kerry Gilmore, our Acting Head of LEAP. A MESSAGE FROM OUR HEAD OF L.E.A.P: A huge thank you to all Staff, Parents and Students who attended the LEAP gala showcase evening on Tues-day night. It was an amazing sight to see more than 250 people in the hall looking through the wonderful works from LEAP Students in 2015. A big thank you to all the LEAP teachers, teaching staff, teacher aides and volunteers who created displays and helped with the mammoth task to set up the hall for the night. There was an amazing response to all the work displayed by students and I personally heard many positive comments about how talented students at Emu Park State School are. Kerry A MESSAGE FROM OUR TEACHER COACH: Holiday Fun and Games – 10 Tips to a Top Holiday: Looking for cheap and fun activities to help make the holidays be an enjoyable time for parents and children. 1. There is no app for a LAP! – read a story every day. 2. Encourage your children to make gifts for other family members. This is an inexpensive way to give gifts

and it is amazing what you can think of. 3. Make a CD or Track list of their favourite songs. 4. Make a batch of their favourite biscuits or slice. 5. Create a book of vouchers they can use for month of January e.g. This voucher entitles you one car

wash. …sweep of the kitchen floor etc. 6. Visit the library and check out the free activities they have organised for the holidays. While you are there

borrow some books, it is free to join. 7. Visit an elderly neighbour or friend and help them set up their Christmas tree, bake them a gift or help

them with a job they need doing. 8. Take a walk on the beach in the afternoon when its cooler and spend some time looking in rock pools. 9. Make some decorations for your tree. Have your children research different ornaments on the internet. 10. Make a 2016 Calendar using your favourite photos from 2015 and your home computer. 11. If you are travelling have the children track your journey on a map. Work out how many kilometres they

will/have travelled. Read about the towns they may pass through or visit. Have them prepare trivia ques-tions for the journey.

12. If you are going camping look for the apps that find and explain the constellations. At night you can see how many you can find. Read about the animals or special features you might see or find while you are there.

13. Create your own coverings for back to school books. Cover the books with brown paper and let you children decorate them using stickers, photos or drawings, then cover them with clear contact.

Most of all have a safe, enjoyable and restful holiday. Lastly, congratulations to Miss Williams and 3W on having the highest attendance record for November. Ellen
