The EMT 6x6 Multi-Purpose Vehicle has been designed by CMP Engineers to provide mine operators with a rough-terrain vehicle with a high payload capability, which is capable of performing a number of roles on a mine site. The truck has a payload capacity of 40 tonnes and is supported on high-flotation tyres for operation in soft conditions. Oil-Cooled brakes are provided for low maintenance, powerful stopping and effective retard. Components have been selected from the CAT range for ease of service and maintenance. A low-entry ROPS cab is provided for operator safety, with power-tilt for engine access. Wherever possible, fill points, filters, etc are located for ground-level access. The cab is left-hand drive for compatibility with other mine vehicles.

The EMT Multi-Purpose Vehicle is suitable for a wide range of off-road applications, including Drill Rigs, Water Trucks, Fire Engines, Dump Trucks and Forestry applications. It is particularly suited to duty as a mine service vehicle, as its high payload of fuel and lubricants, enables the fuelling and servicing of many large and ultra-class trucks in a single trip.

CMP Engineers was commissioned to undertake the complete design, specifying the power train components, designing the chassis, suspension, axle A-frames, front axle and steering, the complete hydraulic system and in collaboration with Caterpillar, the electrical system. Full Finite Element Analysis was performed on all structural components to ensure a light but strong fatigue resistant structure.
