EMS is pleased to share that our Corporate Training Department has completed AHE’s Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician Training Program (T-CHEST) and are now offering CHEST Certification to our employees. We are excited to be on the forefront of this new program - initially rolled out in 2015. EMS continues to accelerate this program by training our managers and staff working directly with healthcare facilities. The CHEST Program was established using a comprehensive nationwide job analysis of a healthcare environmental services technician’s responsibilities and defined focus groups. The program covers all aspects of a frontline worker’s typical tasks and accountabilities. The standard Train-the-Trainer (TTT) model is employed to maximize value at each facility – T-CHEST then train their environmental services technicians and deliver the written assessment. Addressing the “Triple-Aim” in Healthcare: • Improving Patient Experience of Care • Improving Health of Populations (Reducing HAIs) • Reducing Per Capita Cost of Health Care Advantages of Certification Through proper care and maintenance of the healthcare environment, on-site environmental services technicians play an essential role in patients’ experience of care, as well as, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction. As the AHE’s notes, today’s healthcare environmental services teams strive to go beyond cleaning, disinfecting, and caring for the environment. These frontline workers seek to create clean and quiet healing atmospheres that lead to improved outcomes. Visit www.ahe.org for more details.

The CHEST Program was established using a comprehensive nationwide job analysis of a healthcare environmental services technician’s responsibilities and

defined focus groups. The program covers all aspects of a frontline worker’s typical tasks and accountabilities. The standard Train-the-Trainer (TTT) model is employed to maximize value at each facility – T-CHEST then train their environmental services technicians and deliver the written assessment.

Addressing the “Triple-Aim” in Healthcare: • Improving Patient Experience of Care • Improving Health of Populations

(Reducing HAIs) • Reducing Per Capita Cost of Health

Care

Advantages of Certification Through proper care and maintenance of the healthcare environment, on-site environmental services technicians play an essential role in patients’ experience of care, as well as, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.

As the AHE’s notes, today’s healthcare environmental services teams strive to go beyond cleaning, disinfecting, and caring for the environment. These frontline workers seek to create clean and quiet healing atmospheres that lead to improved outcomes.
