Employment Bulletin Issue No. 08 (New Format) January 2020 Claimant Counts As of January 2020, the Claimant Count for the Nottinghamshire region is 775 higher than it was a month ago. This represents a rate of change of 3.55% over the month, which, in comparison to the East Midlands region, is 0.21% higher. For the City of Nottinghamshire, there is now a total of 9,930 claimants. In comparison, the County has 12,680, which is made up of 7,290 males and 5,390 females, a split of 57.49% to 42.51%. The claimant count also increased in all seven Local Authority Districts in the region, over the month. The largest increase figure wise was in Ashfield, which saw a rise of 155 individuals, equalling a change of 6.55%. This is followed by Bassetlaw with an increase of 125 individuals, or 6.79%, Newark and Sherwood, which rose by 65 individuals (4.01%), and Gedling, which increased by 60 claimants (3.52%). The smallest increase was seen in both Broxtowe and Rushcliffe, which saw rises of only 30 individuals. Percentage wise, this represents a change of 1.99% and 3.08% respectively. Across the Districts gender wise, Ashfield has the greatest number of claimants with 2,525. This is broken down by 1,065 females and 1,460 males. The lowest is Rushcliffe with 1,010 claimants, made up of 425 females and 585 males. As for the Parliamentary Constituencies, claimants increased in all eight during January. The largest was in Ashfield, with a rise of 130 over the previous month, representing a 6.48% growth. This is followed by Bassetlaw, which increased its claimant numbers to 115, or 6.46%. The smallest increase occurred in Newark and Sherwood, which saw a rise of 30 individuals, equalling 3.59%. Compared to a year ago, the rates of change across Parliamentary Constituencies range from 15.90% in Bassetlaw, to 63.21% in Rushcliffe. The average rate of change across all eight areas is 43.19%. Additionally, against the previous month, all four of the TTWA’s have increased their claimant numbers. Nottingham saw the largest growth, growing by 480 individuals, or 2.83%. This is followed by Mansfield, which increased by 225 claimants, and Lincoln, which increased by 160. The lowest growth over the month was in Worksop and Retford, where an increase of 140 claimants was seen, equalling a rise of 7.09%. Of the Wards within the Nottinghamshire area, Oak Tree, which is within the Mansfield district, continues to have the highest percentile of claimants with 163 individuals, representing 8.50% of its 16-64 workforce population. Comparatively, Tollerton, which is found within the Rushcliffe district, has the lowest rate. Here there are only 5 claimants, or 0.20% of its 16-64 workforce population. Claimant Counts

As of January 2020, the Claimant Count for the Nottinghamshire region is 775 higher than it was a month ago. This represents a rate of change of 3.55% over the month, which, in comparison to the East Midlands region, is 0.21% higher.

For the City of Nottinghamshire, there is now a total of 9,930 claimants. In comparison, the County has 12,680, which is made up of 7,290 males and 5,390 females, a split of 57.49% to 42.51%.

The claimant count also increased in all seven Local Authority Districts in the region, over the month. The largest increase figure wise was in Ashfield, which saw a rise of 155 individuals, equalling a change of 6.55%. This is followed by Bassetlaw with an increase of 125 individuals, or 6.79%, Newark and Sherwood, which rose by 65 individuals (4.01%), and Gedling, which increased by 60 claimants (3.52%).

The smallest increase was seen in both Broxtowe and Rushcliffe, which saw rises of only 30 individuals. Percentage wise, this represents a change of 1.99% and 3.08% respectively.

Across the Districts gender wise, Ashfield has the greatest number of claimants with 2,525. This is broken down by 1,065 females and 1,460 males. The lowest is Rushcliffe with 1,010 claimants, made up of 425 females and 585 males.
