Primary Teacher

1 THE COLLEGE

Norwest Christian College was established in 1980 and today is a rapidly growing co-educational P-12 College with over 700 students. Our campus is situated in Riverstone; part of the burgeoning North-West housing development. We teach NSW NESA curricula from a Christian perspective as we grow young people to love God, pursue their purpose and build their capacity.

2 EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Employment will be subject to the conditions of the current NSW Christian Schools Multi-Enterprise Agreement.

3 CHRISTIAN BACKGROUND, ACTIVITY AND BELIEFS

The successful candidate will have addressed in their application: a) the church they currently attend and their involvement in the life of that church and/or other Christian organisations; b) their definition of a Christian and their experience of personal salvation, and how their faith affects their daily life; c) their belief about the inspiration and authority of the Bible; and d) their understanding of Christian Education and the principles that guide them as a Christian teacher.

4 SELECTION CRITERIA

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate at interview a personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with that faith, including an active commitment to a Christian fellowship, as well as: a) a strong understanding of and commitment to Christian education and the Christian development of students; b) a strong rapport with, empathy with, and understanding of young people; c) a passion for the pastoral care of students and the delivery of programs to support student well-being; d) an appreciation of the value of building students’ character and learning capacity; e) a comprehensive understanding of relevant curriculum and the programming and assessment process; f) a comprehensive understanding of pedagogies and programs that lead to greater than ‘expected’ academic growth; g) the capacity to develop programmes that differentiate learning opportunities for students. h) experience in the use of data to deliver academic improvement; i) a comprehensive understanding of 21st Century pedagogy including relevant technologies; j) outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and a capacity to manage staff, student and parental issues; k) sound planning, administration, and organisational skills; l) a collaborative approach and the capacity to be an active team member; m) a comprehensive understanding of the education needs and differences of students; n) a willingness to support and help develop College culture and build the College community; and o) the disposition to be a lifelong learner.

5 APPLICATION

Applications should contain: a) a covering letter addressing the items in the Christian Background, Activity and Beliefs section above; b) a resume including relevant academic and work history, as well as professional experience and achievements; c) contact details for two professional referees and the minister/pastor of their current church; and d) copies of qualifications, including academic transcripts.

Applications should be marked ‘Confidential Application’ and must be received by the Principal by email ([email protected]), by mail (PO Box 6335, Rouse Hill Town Centre NSW 2155), or at the College office by COB on the closing date. 6 INTERVIEW

Candidates shortlisted for interview will be expected to: a) provide a Working With Children Check clearance number or clearance letter;

b) address each of the selection criteria in the context of an interview;

c) prepare and present a brief digital presentation to demonstrate their unique qualities as a teacher; and

d) demonstrate high quality teaching skills in one or more lesson demonstration/s.
