TAP/BALLET This class introduces children to the basics of both ballet and tap, combining creative movement, grace and balance. Students learn basic steps such as shuffles, rhythm exercises, and springs and ele-mentary ballet including plies, tendus, and passes. Wear dance attire and bring tap and ballet shoes. Parents are invited back at the end of program for a class demonstration.

Parents provide snack and stay to volunteer 1-2 times during the session.
Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day.
A birth certificate may be requested for age confirmations.
Participants must be toilet trained by first day of program (with the exception of the Time for Two’s and Three’s At The Farm)

THE HATCHERY (KINDER TOT AND TINY TOT) This program is an opportunity to introduce preschoolers to farm life and animals. Activities will include caring for farm animals, songs, stories, crafts, garden fun and games to develop socialization skills, eye-hand coordination and motor skills. Your child will also learn alphabet sounds, shapes, and colors. Participants must be toilet trained.

TIME FOR TWO’S & THREE’S AT THE FARM This program is a wonderful exploration for two and three year olds. The class will focus on socialization and learning through play. Children will have free choice of activities, including feeding the farm animals. Some activities may be messy, so wear your grubbies! Only enrolled children may attend. HIP HOP High-energy dance classes promote teamwork and improving coordination, stamina and overall fitness. As students sharpen their moves and refine footwork, choreography is introduced. Instruction is broken down to simplify the learning process, thereby helping to instill confidence in all dancers. Program culminates with an exciting costumed presentation.

FARM TOUR Explore the farm with your friendly farm guide. The tour will include the small animal area, barn, pasture and gardens. The tour will conclude with a hay wagon ride around the pasture.
FEED THE FARM ANIMALS Kids will have the opportunity to assist park staff in feeding the ducks, goats, chickens, rabbits, geese, sheep and miniature pigs.

EMMA PRUSCH FARM SUMMER CAMP This unique summer camp offers kids the opportunity to experience life on the farm. Each day campers will help take care of Emma’s animals, grow and harvest vegetables, play games and accomplish craft activities. Campers will go on a fantastic field trip on Thursdays, and Fridays we will end the week with our farm celebration BBQ. Join us for some good ole fun down Emma’s Farm! Please Note: The main entrance to the park is closed on Mondays. To access park please come in through Knox Ave. Participants must bring their own lunch, snacks, and drinks to camp everyday. The only exception for lunch is Friday, when we provide a BBQ lunch. Summer camp enrollment spaces are limited to a first come, first serve basis. Enrollment in one week of summer camp does not guarantee space in other future weeks of summer camp.

FUN ON THE FARM AT EMMA PRUSCH Fun on the farm is a program especially created for pre-schoolers ages 2 to 5. Through hands on interaction the chil-dren will improve counting, vocabulary skills, and reinforce caring, patience, and taking turns.

HORSE RIDES AT THE PRUSCH FARM Take your child on a safe and fun horse ride. Our seasoned horses are here for your kids to enjoy. This ride is for children ages 2 to 6 years. Helmet is required and supplied at no cost. Horse rides are available Saturdays and Sundays (weather permitting) from 12:00pm-4:00pm. Each horse ride is $10 per child per approximately 10 minutes. Registrations are taken on a drop-in basis during the weekends. Horse rides will be held in the livestock barn.
WESTERN RIDING LESSON AT EMMA PRUSCH In beginning western lessons you will learn to mount, dis-mount, steer, stop, and make your horse go. You will also learn balance, posting, and much more, including horse safety. Helmet is required and supplied at no cost.

HORSE RIDING LESSONS SUMMER CAMP Campers learn to saddle, groom, lead, parts of the horse and saddle, horse psychology and safety, lay horse related games, and much more. Campers ride for at least one hour per day. Please wear long pants, closed toe shoes, bring lunch, snack, and water.
Horse riding campers will meet at the livestock barn.
Please note: The main entrance to Emma Prusch Farm Park is closed on Mondays. To drop-off and pick-up children on Mondays, please come in through Knox Ave. If you have questions, please contact park office at (408)794-6262.
Summer Camp enrollment spaces are limited to a first come, first serve basis. Enrollment in one week of summer camp does not guarantee space in other future weeks of summer camp.

REGISTRATION POLICIES
Our method of registration is designed to offer equal access to
all. San José residents and Active Adult members are eligible
for early registration.
Customers can register for any class at any PRNS facility.
Registration will be accepted in person, mail, fax, or online.
Phone registrations will not be accepted.
Registration forms will be processed in the order they are
received.
Registration will be accepted until the second class meeting if
the course is still available. If the course requested is full, the
participant will be registered for their second choice or placed
on a wait list.
Please be prompt when dropping off or picking up your child
from his/her class. Children may not enter the class until the
scheduled class or activity time. Children who arrive late to a
class or activity should enter quietly and join in the activity.
If a class is cancelled by the City, a make-up class will be
added to the end of the session. In the event that a class can-
not be rescheduled for a make-up by the City, a refund will be
issued for the missed class. If the participant misses a class,
no refunds will be issued.
All wait list participants will be contacted only if there is an
available spot in the class.
MINIMUM ENROLLMENT/CLASS CANCELLATION
REFUND/TRANSFER POLICY All refund and transfer requests need to be made in writing.
Request may be submitted in person to any PRNS facility or by
email to [email protected].
All refund and transfer requests must be received at least 14
calendar days prior to the start of the program/class. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received less than 14 calendar days prior to the start of the program/class.
There will be a $10 refund processing fee for EACH activity and
EACH child.If a class was paid with cash or check, a refund check will be mailed and may take 6-8 weeks for processing.
If a class was paid with a credit card, the refund will be credited
back to the credit card.
It may not be possible to refund the class materials charged by
the instructor.
Refund and transfers may not be done online.
Transfers must be requested for classes in the same season.
PREREQUISITES FOR CLASS
The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and
Neighborhood Services reserves the right to the cancel any class or
activity that does not meet a set minimum enrollment. Please
register early to avoid class cancellations. We will make every effort
to notify you at least five days prior to the scheduled course starting
date. Please do not purchase supplies until five days prior to the
start of the class. If a class is canceled, you will receive a full refund
from the City, excluding class supplies.
INCLUSION POLICY
Please note all requirements, dates, and times for classes offered
before enrolling. All participants must meet the age requirement on
the first day of the class or activity.
SATISFACTION GUARANTEED
We want to provide quality programs to all participants. If you are
not satisfied with your program, please let us know. Contact staff at

PRE-SCHOOL POLICIES

PAYMENT PLANS POLICY Automatic payments are processed on the twentieth (20th) day of each month. A full payment is required to hold your child’s spot for the following month. Additionally, if payment is not received by the 1st of the month, students will be withdrawn from the class. If your credit/debit card account changes, please notify the community center front desk staff. If you do not plan to have your child continue, we request that you notify the community center staff at least two (2) weeks prior to your child’s last day. This will allow us to stop your automatic payment on time.
LATE PICK UP POLICY
The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and
Neighborhood Services wants to ensure the safety and well-being of
every participant. Participants must be picked up at the scheduled
class end time. If, after five minutes, a participant is not picked up,
we may charge $1.00 per participant for every minute thereafter. All
fees must be paid prior to the participant returning to the class. We
understand that emergencies may happen. If you have any
emergency and are unable to pick up your child on time, contact the
community center.
The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and
Neighborhood Services (PRNS) encourages and supports the
participation of individuals with all ability levels in programs and
services. To facilitate opportunities for people with and without
disabilities and to engage in leisure pursuits together, PRNS
provides inclusion support services. These services include, but are
not limited to interpreters for the deaf or hearing impaired, improved
signage, activity modification, additional staff training, accessible
equipment and facility features and support staff. To ensure the
consideration of the requested accommodation, please notify the
specific facility where the program is provided at least two weeks in
advance. For more information on inclusion opportunities,
specialized recreation services and accommodations, please
contact Therapeutic Services at 408.369.6438.
