The newspaper column- ist and television pre- senter is set to join Australian of the Year Ita Buttrose as a panell- ist on the new Ten pro- gram, which will be launched later in 2013. JAGGER MOVES LONDON: Hundreds of festival-goers proved they had the moves like Jagger by taking part in a Jumping Jack Flashmob at Glastonbury. The Jagger Off, ar- ranged by two Rolling Stones fans to celebrate the band’s first appear- ance at the festival, saw crowds of people mimic Sir Mick Jagger’s trade- mark dance moves. Eminem’s deadly script LOS ANGELES: Eminem says his addiction to prescription drugs left him close to com- plete organ failure. The 40-year-old rapper re- counts his brush with death in an interview for new docu- mentary How To Make Money Selling Drugs. He remembers being rushed to hospital in a critical con- dition after a night bingeing. ‘‘Xanax, Valium, tomato, to- matoe — it’s the same thing . . . They were gonna have to put me on dialysis. ‘‘They didn’t think I was gonna make it. My bottom was gonna be death.’’ Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, says he dismissed friends who told him he had an issue with sub- stance abuse. The star came clean about his addiction on his 2010 hit album Recovery. ‘‘I don’t know at what point exactly it started to be a prob- lem. I just remember liking it more and more,’’ Eminem says in the film. ‘‘People tried to tell me that I had a problem. I would say ‘Get that f***ing person outta here. I’m not out there shoot- ing heroin. I’m not f***ing out there putting coke up my nose. I’m not smoking crack’.’’ The rapper admits he re- lapsed just a month after being released from hospital. But, he says he found strength in his role as a father to overcome his problems. ‘‘I’m looking at my kids and (realising) ‘I need to be here for this’,’’ he muses. ‘‘Coming off everything, I literally was up 24 hours a day for three weeks straight. And I mean, not sleeping, not even nodding off for a f***king minute. ‘‘I had to regain motor skills, I had to regain talking skills. It’s been a learning pro- cess. I’m growing. I couldn’t believe that anybody could be naturally happy without being on something.’’ Actors Steve Buscemi and Michael Imperioli embrace at the funeral for actor James Gandolfini Picture: AFP Moving farewell for Sopranos star NEW YORK: Family, friends and fans have united in grief in an emotional send-off for James Gandolfini, star of the hit TV series The Sopranos. Gandolfini, a Golden Globe and three-time Emmy winner for his portrayal of New Jersey mobster Tony Soprano, died on June 19 af- ter a heart attack in a hotel in Rome. He was 51. Mourners converged on Man- hattan’s Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, an Episcopal church that is among the world’s biggest. Some 1500 people filled the pews. Present for the two-hour fu- neral were cast members of the HBO series, whose creator David Chase delivered the eulogy in the form of a letter. ‘‘We both loved family, work, people, food, alcohol, talking,’’ said Chase. Bowie counts on TV role LOS ANGELES: Re- clusive rocker David Bowie has been offered the chance to return to the small screen with a role on US horror ser- ies Hannibal. The Under Pressure star hasn’t acted on the small screen since 2007. But Hannibal creator and producer Bryan Fuller has asked the singer to play Count Ro- bert Lector on season two of the show.
