Programs:

Vanguard has programs in cosmetology. They offer courses for you to become a cosmetology instructor. Vanguard also offers an advanced academy for those who want more education in the art of beauty.

The cosmetology program is broken down into three phases: CORE, ADAPTIVE, and

CREATIVE.

CORE- learn the rules of hair. This introduces you to the basics.

ADAPTIVE- apply the rules. This phase uses the skills you learned in the first phase and adds more.

CREATIVE- expand the rules. This is the final phase where you are shown the advanced form of hairdressing and chemical work. This phase also prepares you for the

future.

The required textbook:Milady Standard 2012

This textbook will inform you on everything you need to know on hair, nails, and makeup. It goes over the different techniques of hair. This textbook will be an important part of guiding me through my education in cosmetology.

Why did I choose cosmetology?

I chose cosmetology because the essence of beauty fascinates me. I love trying new things on my hair but I never really thought of it as a career until now. It is something I’m very passionate about and can see myself doing in the future.
