If you fail to do so, you may be fined or imprisoned for overstaying by the Malaysian Immigration Department. You will have to undergo a Medical Screening for each year of renewal. In addition you must have an 80% attendance report for the duration of the current student pass validity period Academic results that are at least CGPA2.0 for the duration of the current student pass validity period. If you are given permission you may only work part-time for a maximum of 20 hours per week during semester breaks or holidays of more than seven days while studying full-time in Malaysia. Applications to work must be made through your institution.

Information on FeesInformation about Fees for EMGS and Immigration EMGS charges a RM1,000 Processing Fee for new or variation (change of course or college/university) applications and RM140 for renewal.

Why must I pay a processing fee? EMGS allows institutions and students to apply for multiple courses and processes the student pass on behalf of applicants. This means that students do not have to make individual applications to different institutions reapplying and re-entering information again and again. Neither do students have to bear the burden of worrying about applying to Immigration themselves. This takes some time and resources. EMGS is moving the process towards a full digitized and automated system interfacing with government agencies. EMGS processes applications within 14 working days. This provides institutions and students with certainty and efficiency. Through the implementation of a robust system of checks EMGS seeks to reduce incidences of fraud and enhance national security whilst ensuring that those who are genuinely seeking to study in Malaysia have access to dependable and accurate information for themselves and their families from the moment they begin their educational journey.

Medical Screening RM250 Medical Insurance a range of packages are available to students and dependantsImmigration Fees These vary from country to country and from application to application. Some of the fees that are required are listed below but you are advised to check with EMGS or your institution or the Department of Immigration for the latest charges: Student Pass RM60 + Multiple Entry Visa Fee by countryShort CoursesStudent Pass Application For Courses Less Than Twelve (12) Months That Are Approved By Ministry Of Higher Education (Short Courses)International students who wish to study at private institutions of higher education on courses of less than 12 months approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) are also required to apply for a Student Pass through EMGS.Once the education institution approves the students application they can apply for the Student Pass. The Student must supply the Institution with the following information: Offer letter from Institution 2 passport size photograph with blue background (3.5cm x 5cm) 1 copies of ALL pages of passport certified in accordance with requirements Validity of passport must be at least six months or the length of the course, whichever is longer. Academic and other certificates certified as a true copy by the institution issuing the document or a commissioner of oaths, notary public or lawyer Personal Bond Payment (held by the Institution) No Objection Certificate (NOC) for international students from Sub-Saharan Africa (if applicable) Payment for the following:i. EMGS Student Pass Processing Fee1. RM500 for courses with course length of six (6) months and below1. RM1,000 for courses with course length of more than six (6) months . Immigration Fees e.g. Student Pass, and multiple entry visa. Medical Screening Fee of RM250 . Medical & Health Insurance Premium We assume that the date of entry is 30 days before the student pass date given that most students will want to arrive at least a few weeks before any course start date. Therefore if you are studying on a course of less than 12 months the insurance premium you purchase will cover you for an additional month. E.g a 6 month course will require an insurance premium of 7 months. In the event that you enter the country more than 30 days before student pass start date, you will be required to pay for any insurance premium differential as you are required to be insured for the duration of your student pass.

The Insured can apply for a refund of the insurance premium in the event of early termination. In such circumstances EMGS will require a copy of the shortened Pass and any refund will be pro-rated on the condition there have been no claims made.

Upon entry into Malaysia i. Submit original passport to Institution on arrivalii. Pay any other immigration or processing fees that have arisen since the original application e.g. insurance premium differentialiii. Attend medical screening within seven (7) days of entering Malaysia at EMGS appointed panel cliniciv.
