Embrace: to hold closely in one’s arms, especially as a sign of affection; to accept or
support (a belief, theory, or change) willing and enthusiastically.
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils
the breath of life, and man became a living being." Genesis 2:7
Of all the things that were created back in Genesis, only mankind had the privilege of
life being breathed into his nostrils by God. Why did God do that for man? What is it
about man that the Creator of the universe would bother to get down in the dirt with
him? It is love. It is grace. The bible says in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that
He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but
have eternal life." Again we see that God, in the form of Jesus, got down in the dirt with
mankind. Why? Because He loves us and He wants us to have eternal life. Life is im-
portant to God. He is the giver and the protector of life. He is our refuge in times of
trouble. He is the Good Shepard who wants to keep his sheep (us) safe. Even though,
“All we like sheep have gone astray. We turned, everyone to his own way; And the Lord
has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” (Is. 56:3)
God took our sin and the punishment we deserve and placed it on Jesus, the Good
Shepard, who lays His life down for His sheep. Jesus warns us that there is an evil one
lurking about, a thief who wants to steal the sheep from the Shepard. He will do any-
thing to get that sheep away from its guardian. Jesus tells us in John 10:10, “The thief
does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they (the
sheep) may have life and that they may have it more abundantly."
Life is precious to God. Christ came to give us abundant life. Let’s not focus on the thief
that lies and kills and destroys. But instead, let’s turn our attention to the One who
breathed life into the nostrils of mankind and who gave us a way to have abundant,
eternal life. Let us embrace life and the love that God has given us.

High Desert Pregnancy Staff Profile
Words cannot begin to express how blessed
we have been this past year, and as the holi-
days are approaching, we here at the High
Desert Pregnancy Clinic have so much to be
grateful for. Record numbers of donations
have come in. We received the Heart of the
Basin’s Award from the Town of Yucca Val-
ley. We also received a 2nd place award for
Best Non-Profit from Hi-Desert Star. We
started our Embrace Grace ministry and had
one young lady, we call them “Bloom's”, go
through the program. We purchased two
new sets of curriculum for our "Earn While
You Learn" program.
We've had two Post Abortive Healings, plus
we have seen 8 women decide to keep their
babies after wanting an abortion initially.
Two girls have given their heart to Jesus.
Two single dads are now taking classes, as
well as more couples coming together. We
have had the opportunity to show the movie
Voiceless to six churches and share who we
are and what we are all about.
So, as the New Year approaches, what is
next? Some goals we have set are, first and
foremost, to save more babies, to build
stronger families, as well as help heal more
women who have suffered from an abortion.
We also want to raise more community
awareness that we are here for them and
about what we do. We will also be setting up
fundraising to purchase a new ultrasound
machine for our technician and a mobile
ultrasound unit to reach those in the farthest
parts of our desert.
This coming January we will start our next
semester of Embrace Grace and introduce
the next chapter in the program called Em-
brace Life. This class will help us to complete
one of our other goals for the coming year,
to work more closely with the churches in
our community to come alongside our clients
to love them and introduce them to Jesus on
a deeper level. Our hope is to further sup-
port them by helping them to find a new
church family.

Liza Rodriguez/ Office Manager
Liza has been with us now for a little over a year and a half, starting out as a volunteer
receptionist, then moving up to be our office manager. She has lived here in the Morongo
Basin for 34 years, coming here with her family when she was a teenager. She met her
husband here and has now been married for 23 years. They have 3 wonderful children.
The oldest is grown and lives out of town and the other two are still living at home. Liza
loves to read, a lot! She enjoys the outdoors doing yard work, hiking, and camping. She
also loves to spend time with her family playing games or attending sporting events.
Liza came here to High Desert Pregnancy Clinic because she wanted to be a part of an
organization that helps the community and strives to encourage young women to keep
their babies when the world says differently. She also appreciates that this is a place
that encourages abstinence and, above else, she enjoys the opportunities to share the
gospel with those who hunger for it. When I asked Liza what she enjoyed most about
being here on staff she told me, “ It’s meeting the clients that come through, seeing them
and getting to know them and offering encouragement. I love to see that they learn so
much from the classes, apply it to their lives and see them continue to come back even
after their baby is born. So much negative in the world but when they come to High De-
sert Pregnancy Clinic they can leave it at the door and experience the caring people
here, who listen."
A WONDERFUL NIGHT UNDER THE STARS We want to thank everyone who came out and helped with our "Night for Life" in
September. To our sponsors: Crown Contracting and Realty Professionals, thank you.
Also, to Boetger Enterprises for their donations. It was a night of fun, great food,
good people and an amazing testimony by our guest speaker, Rusty Joiner, not to
mention the great items that were donated to our auction. With perfect weather,
wonderful hosting, and supporters, it was a successful evening. We raised nearly
$10,000! This covers half the year for rent.
Again, thank you to everyone who came out!

A letter from a client Years had passed since my last pregnancy and I decided to reach out to the clinic to get up-
dates and re-educate myself on the “baby Parenting”. Surprisingly, I got pregnant after dec-
ades of failed attempts. I had briefly heard about the High Desert Pregnancy Clinic in my
career but did not know details and the impact of its services in our community. I was
placed on disability early in my pregnancy due to medical complications. Quickly thereafter,
I experienced issues with my disability payments and found my family in financial hardship.
During this hardship, we have attended weekly sessions and have earned butterfly bucks to
obtain baby supplies. The clinic’s store has provided our new baby with everything she
needs for the first year of her life.
It was the support of the clinic’s staff and their services that have helped balance and assist
us during these times. The clinic provided my husband and I with support, inspiration, and
hope, the confidence to take on the challenges we face, and improved skill set toward solu-
tions in caring for our new baby. The video educational services offered have provided us
with new parenting techniques. Parenting techniques such as the different sounds of the
baby’s cry to communicate their needs of hunger, gas, or the simplicity of being tired. Addi-
tionally, what I thought I knew as the “proper way”, I discovered was actually inaccurate.
For example, “breastfeeding positioning and latching on.”
Last but not least, the RN Elizabeth has been available to answer our medical concerns that
were not addressed in our medical care. This has given us peace of mind during a very
stressful and emotional period. The High Desert Pregnancy Clinic has embraced us with
nothing but love and support. They have held our hands, cried and laughed with us, and
have become an extended part of our family.
We are grateful and appreciative that a place such as this exists in our limited community.
We will continue to attend our weekly classes and give a five-star recommendation to any
expecting parents to participate as well. Children are such a blessing in our lives so why not
broaden the opportunities to provide for them with love and support toward a happy ful-
filled life. This starts by attending to our own needs and self-care as individuals and their
parents. -Mandy
