God is the Lord, and He revealed Himselfto us. Blessed is he who comes in the name ofthe Lord. [SAAS]

Στίχ. αʹ. Ἐξοµολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶἐπικαλεῖσθε τὸ ὄνοµα τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ.

Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and callupon His holy name.

ἤ· Ἐξοµολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ, ὅτι ἀγαθός,ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ.

or: Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; forHis mercy endures forever.

Human beings sealed Your tomb, OSavior; an Angel rolled the stone awayfrom the door. The women saw Youwere resurrected from the dead, and they

"Why do you mingle the ointments withyour tears full of pity, O women disciples?"Thus the Angel who was shining in the tombcried to the myrrh-bearing women. "See foryourselves the empty tomb and understand,that the Savior has risen from the sepulcher."[SD]



Λίαν πρωΐ, Μυροφόροι ἔδραµον,πρὸς τὸ µνῆµά σου θρηνολογοῦσαι· ἀλλ'ἐπέστη, πρὸς αὐτὰς ὁ Ἄγγελος, καὶ εἶπε·θρήνου ὁ καιρὸς πέπαυται, µὴ κλαίετε, τὴνἈνάστασιν δέ, Ἀποστόλοις εἴπατε.

Very early in the morning, the myrrh-bearing women were hastening to Your tomblamenting. But the Angel appeared to themand uttered, "The time for lamentation hasended; weep no more. Go announce theResurrection to the Apostles." [SD]



Μυροφόροι γυναῖκες, µετὰ µύρωνἐλθοῦσαι, πρὸς τὸ µνῆµά σου, Σῶτερἐνηχοῦντο. Ἀγγέλου τρανῶς, πρὸς αὐτὰςφθεγγοµένου· Τί µετὰ νεκρῶν, τὸν ζώνταλογίζεσθε; ὡς Θεὸς γάρ, ἐξανέστη τοῦµνήµατος.

When the myrrh-bearing women hadcome with their spices to Your sepulcher,O Savior, they heard the voice of an Angelclearly speaking to them, "Why do youaccount among the dead the One who lives?For as God, He has risen from the sepulcher."[SD]

We bow down in worship to the Fatherand His Son and the Holy Spirit, the HolyTrinity, one in essence; and we cry aloud withthe Seraphim: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, OLord. [SD]

τῷ µνήµατι, τὸν Δεσπότην ἐζήτουν,ἐν νεκροῖς τὸν ἀθάνατον, καὶ χαρᾶςεὐαγγέλια, ἐκ τοῦ Ἀγγέλου δεξάµεναι, τοῖςἈποστόλοις ἐµήνυον· Ὅτι ἀνέστη Χριστὸς ὁΘεός, παρέχων τῷ κόσµῳ τὸ µέγα ἔλεος.

From my youth does the enemy temptme, and with the pleasures he scorches me.But trusting You, O Lord, monumentally do Idefeat him. [SD]

Οἱ µισοῦντες Σιών, γενηθήτωσαν δή,πρὶν ἐκσπασθῆναι ὡς χόρτος· συγκόψει γὰρΧριστός, αὐχένας αὐτῶν, τοµῇ βασάνων.

Let the haters of Zion become as the grassis before it is plucked up. For Christ will alsocut their necks with the cutting sword oftorments. [SD]

In the Holy Spirit is the life of all thingsliving. He is light from light and great God.Him do we extol with the Father and Logos.[SD]

ταπεινοφρονοῦσα, µὴ ὑψωθεῖσα ἀποπέσῃ,ἐκ σοῦ Πανοικτίρµον.

With the fear of You, Lord, let my heartbe covered and be humble-minded, lest it beexalted and fall from You, all-compassionateMaster. [SD]

Ἐπὶ τὸν Κύριον ὁ ἐσχηκὼς ἐλπίδα, οὐδείσει τότε, ὅτε πυρὶ τὰ πάντα κρινεῖ καὶκολάσει.

He who has set his hope on the Lord willnot fear when He will judge and punish allthings with fire. [SD]

Δόξα· καὶ νῦν. Glory. Both now.Ἁγίῳ Πνεύµατι, πᾶς τις θεῖος βλέπει

καὶ προλέγει, τερατουργεῖ ὕψιστα, ἐν τρισὶνἕνα Θεὸν µέλπων· εἰ γὰρ καὶ τριλαµπεῖ,µοναρχεῖ τὸ θεῖον.

In the Holy Spirit every divine man seesand speaks as a prophet. He does sublimemiracles, praising the one God in threepersons. For though It is three lights, yet theGodhead rules as monarch. [SD]

Do not cast me away from Your presence,and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit.

For if You desired sacrifice, I would giveit; You will not be pleased with whole burntofferings.

A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, abroken and humbled heart God will notdespise.

Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasureto Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem bebuilt.

Then You will be pleased with a sacrificeof righteousness, with offerings and wholeburnt offerings.

Τοῦ ποιῆσαι ἐν αὐτοῖς κρῖµα ἔγγραπτον·δόξα αὕτη ἔσται πᾶσι τοῖς ὁσίοις αὐτοῦ.

To fulfill among them the written judgment:this glory have all His holy ones. [SAAS]

Κύριε, εἰ καὶ κριτηρίῳ παρέστης, ὑπὸΠιλάτου κρινόµενος, ἀλλ' οὐκ ἀπελείφθηςτοῦ θρόνου, τῷ Πατρὶ συγκαθεζόµενος,καὶ ἀναστὰς ἐκ νεκρών, τὸν κόσµονἠλευθέρωσας, ἐκ τῆς δουλείας τοῦἀλλοτρίου, ὡς οἰκτίρµων καὶ Φιλάνθρωπος.

Lord, even if You stood on trial andsuffered Pontius Pilate to be Your judge, yetYou did not leave Your divine throne, seatedwith the Father as You are. And when Yourose from the dead, You freed the world fromservitude that was imposed on it by the Devil,O Compassionate who love mankind. [SD]

αἰνεῖτε αὐτὸν ἐν στερεώµατι τῆς δυνάµεωςαὐτοῦ.

Praise God in His saints; praise Him in thefirmament of His power. [SAAS]

Κύριε, εἰ καὶ ὡς νεκρὸν ἐν µνηµείῳ,Ἰουδαῖοι σε κατέθεντο, ἀλλ' ὡς Βασιλέαὑπνοῦντα, στρατιῶταί σε ἐφύλαττον, καὶ ὡςζωῆς θησαυρόν, σφραγῖδι ἐσφραγίσαντο·ἀλλὰ ἀνέστης καὶ παρέσχες, ἀφθαρσίανταῖς ψυχαῖς ἡµῶν.

Lord, even if the Judeans had Youburied as a lifeless body in a grave, yet aguard of soldiers was watching over You asthough a sleeping king; and with a seal theysecured the tomb as a treasure-house of life.But You arose and unto our souls grantedincorruptibility. [SD]

αὐτοῦ, αἰνεῖτε αὐτὸν κατὰ τὸ πλῆθος τῆςµεγαλωσύνης αὐτοῦ.

Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Himaccording to the abundance of His greatness. [SAAS]

Κύριε, ὅπλον κατὰ τοῦ διαβόλου, τὸνΣταυρόν σου ἡµῖν δέδωκας· φρίττει γὰρκαὶ τρέµει, µὴ φέρων καθορᾷν αὐτοῦ τὴνδύναµιν· ὅτι νεκροὺς ἀνιστᾷ καὶ θάνατονκατήργησε· διὰ τοῦτο προσκυνοῦµεν, τὴνΤαφήν σου καὶ τὴν Ἔγερσιν.

Lord, as a weapon against the AdversaryYou have given us Your holy Cross. Grippedwith fear he trembles unable to endure to lookupon its might, because it raises the dead, anddeath itself it neutralized. For this reason weadore Your three-day burial and rising again.[SD]

αὐτὸν ἐν ψαλτηρίῳ καὶ κιθάρᾳ.Praise Him with the sound of trumpet; praise

Him with the harp and lyre. [SAAS]

Ὁ Ἄγγελός σου Κύριε, ὁ τὴν Ἀνάστασινκηρύξας, τοὺς µὲν φύλακας ἐφόβησε, τὰδὲ Γύναια ἐφώνησε λέγων· Τί ζητεῖτε τὸνζῶντα µετὰ τῶν νεκρῶν; ἀνέστη Θεός ὤν,καὶ τῇ οἰκουµένῃ ζωὴν ἐδωρήσατο.

Your Angel, who announced Yourresurrection, on the one hand frightened *those who guarding Your tomb, O Lord, *on the other hand he spoke to the Women, *"Why seek among the dead the One who isalive? * As God, He has risen, * granting to thewhole world the gift of eternal life." [SD]

αἰνεῖτε αὐτὸν ἐν χορδαῖς καὶ ὀργάνῳ.Praise Him with timbrel and dance; praise

Him with strings and flute. [SAAS]

Ἔπαθες διὰ σταυροῦ, ὁ ἀπαθὴς τῇΘεότητι, ταφὴν κατεδέξω τριήµερον,ἵνα ἡµᾶς ἐλευθερώσῃς τῆς δουλείας τοῦἐχθροῦ, καὶ ἀθανατίσας, ζωοποιήσῃς ἡµᾶςΧριστὲ ὁ Θεός, διὰ τῆς Ἀναστάσεώς σουφιλάνθρωπε.

You suffered by means of the Cross,though in Divinity impassible. You acceptedthree-day burial, so that You might liberate usfrom our slavery to the enemy, and making usimmortal might bring us to life, O Christ ourGod, through Your resurrection, O Lord wholove humanity. [SD]

αἰνεῖτε αὐτὸν ἐν κυµβάλοις ἀλαλαγµοῦ.Πᾶσα πνοὴ αἰνεσάτω τὸν Κύριον.

Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praiseHim with triumphant cymbals; let everything thatbreathes praise the Lord. [SAAS]

Προσκυνῶ καὶ δοξάζω, καὶ ἀνυµνῶΧριστέ, τὴν σὴν ἐκ τάφου Ἀνάστασιν, δι'ἧς ἠλευθέρωσας ἡµᾶς, ἐκ τῶν τοῦ ᾍδουἀλύτων δεσµῶν, καὶ ἐδωρήσω τῷ κόσµῳ ὡςΘεὸς ζωὴν αἰώνιον, καὶ τὸ µέγα ἔλεος.

I adore and I glorify and I extol, O Christ,Your resurrection from the sepulcher, throughwhich You have set us free from the bonds ofHades that no one could break, and as GodYou have granted to the world everlasting lifeand the great mercy. [SD]

ἡ χείρ σου, µὴ ἐπιλάθῃ τῶν πενήτων σου εἰςτέλος.

Arise, O Lord my God, let Your hand be liftedhigh, and do not forget Your poor to the end. [SAAS]

Τὸ ζωοδόχον σου µνῆµα, φρουροῦντεςπαράνοµοι, σὺν τῇ κουστωδίᾳ

With a company of soldiers the unlawfulones set a guard at Your tomb that held life,

ἐσφραγίσαντο τοῦτο, σὺ δὲ ὡς ἀθάνατοςΘεὸς καὶ παντοδύναµος, ἀνέστηςτριήµερος.

and with a seal they secured it. You, however,as immortal God and omnipotent, resurrectedon the third day. [SD]

καρδίᾳ µου, διηγήσοµαι πάντα τὰ θαυµάσιάσου.

I will give thanks to You, O Lord, with mywhole heart; I will tell of all Your wondrousthings. [SAAS]

Πορευθέντος σου ἐν πύλαις ᾍδουΚύριε, καὶ ταύτας συντρίψαντος, ὁαἰχµάλωτος οὕτως ἐβόα· Τίς ἐστιν οὗτος,ὅτι οὐ καταδικάζεται ἐν τοῖς κατωτάτοιςτῆς γῆς, ἀλλὰ καὶ ὡς σκηνὴν κατέλυσετοῦ θανάτου τὸ δεσµωτήριον; ἐδεξάµηναὐτὸν ὡς θνητόν, καὶ τρέφω ὡς Θεόν.Παντοδύναµε Σωτὴρ ἐλέησον ἡµᾶς.

When You entered at the gates of Hades,O Lord, and when You had shattered them,then the Devil there in exile shouted, "Who isthis one? For not only is he not condemnedto the lowest regions of the earth, but he hasalso torn down, like a tent, the prison thatbelonged to death. I received him as thougha mortal man, and quake at him as God." Oalmighty Savior, have mercy on us. [SD]

O Christ, You the true peace of Godwith humanity, when You gave Your peaceto the Disciples after the resurrection, Youfrightened them; for they thought that theywere seeing a ghost. But You quieted theagitation of their souls by showing them Yourhands and Your feet. And while they stilldid not believe it, You partook of the foodand reminded them of the teachings, andthus You opened their minds to understandthe Scriptures. Then, when You affirmed thepromise of the Father, and You blessed them,You departed for heaven. We therefore jointhem in worshipping You. Glory to You, OLord. [SD]

You are supremely blessed, O VirginTheotokos. For through Him who from youbecame incarnate was Hades taken prisoner,

Ἡ Μεγάλη Δοξολογία Great DoxologyΔόξα σοι τῷ δείξαντι τὸ φῶς. Δόξα

ἐν ὑψίστοις Θεῷ καὶ ἐπὶ γῆς εἰρήνη, ἐνἀνθρώποις εὐδοκία.

Glory be to You who showed the light.Glory in the highest to God. His peace is onearth, His good pleasure in mankind. [SD]

Ὑµνοῦµέν σε, εὐλογοῦµέν σε,προσκυνοῦµέν σε, δοξολογοῦµέν σε,εὐχαριστοῦµέν σοι, διὰ τὴν µεγάλην σουδόξαν.

Accept our supplication, You who sit atthe right hand of the Father, and have mercyon us.

Every day I will bless You, and Yourname will I praise to eternity, and to the agesof ages.
