Page 2: Emails between Northampton MA building commissioners and the Paradise City Tavern

I am writing to let you know that we are working closely with Gerry Shattuck to get the Door in the rear of the space as well as the bathrooms finished asap. Gerry has informed me that his start date on the door will be September 7th and it should not take him long to complete. He is also working on a quote for our bathrooms. I will keep you in the loop on the start date of the bathrooms as well as any other scheduling updates throughout the project. I hope this all works for you.

--Best, Bill Collins”

=-=-=-=-=-=-October 13, 2009 Email from Anthony Patillo to William Collins. CC’ed to Thomas Douglas, Northampton Fire Chief Brian Duggan, Deputy Fire Chief Duane Nichols, and Mary Midura (clerk for Northampton License Commission)

“William,Attached is e-mail I received from Warehouse Mechanical last week the day of your

liquor license commission meeting. We will be conducting inspections within next two weeks for renewal of your liquor

license, as per the Acts of 304.When Paradise City Tavern converted to nightclub use you were required to sprinkler

entire building. The system was to be complete. The e-mail from Warehouse Mechanical, who must supply advadavit [sic] for system, has not supplied this to us. We understood at time of installation that there were parts backordered and with warm summer weather this was not a problem. The weather is now an issue and this must be addressed ASAP. Failure to have this complete before end of this month will result in the loss of your A-2nc nightclub status and occupancy would have to be reduced to previous use.

The bathroom issue has not been resolved nor any applications submitted to CB Commission for approval, please contact me this week before I have to take further action on this issue as well.

--Anthony Patillo”

ATTACHED“Duane & Tony, At this time I can't complete the final affidavit for the sprinkler system at Paradise City Tavern.

As of today they have failed to install the insulation at building roof to protect the pipes from freezing. Also they haven't made arrangements with Warehouse Mechanical to install the dry heads in the exterior overhang. --Paul D. Krause Jr., Warehouse Mechanical, Contractors, Inc.”

to CB commission [Central Business Architecture Committee].--Tony”

=-=-=-=-=-=-April 06, 2010, 4:06 PMEmail from William Collins to Louis Hasbrouck

“Hi Louis,My name is Bill Collins I am the General Manager of Spoleto Restaurant Group. I'd like to

start by saying CONGRATS on your new position! As I'm sure you know Tony was in communication with Claudio and I about additional Bathrooms at Paradise City Tavern. We would like to set up an appointment with you to speak about the bathrooms sometime the week of April 19th. Please let me know what would work for you. Thank you for your time.

--Best, Bill Collins”

April 06, 2010, 5:30 PM Email from Louis Hasbrouck to William Collins. CC’ed to Larry Lepine

“Bill, I thought that the bathroom requirements were resolved. If memory serves, we (Larry

Lepine plumbing inspector, Tom Douglas architect, Tony Patillo building commissioner and Claudio Guerra owner) had reached an agreement as to fixture count and occupancy load. We had agreed not to increase the occupancy until the bathrooms were completed. I’d be happy to meet with you; Tuesday 4/20 and Thursday 4/22 would work. Call Linda LaPointe (587-1240) to set up a time. I’d like Tom Douglas and Larry Lepine to be at the meeting as they both were involved in the previous discussions. Bring any plans you have. Let me know if you have any questions. --Louis Hasbrouck, Inspector of Buildings/Zoning Enforcement”

=-=-=-=-=-=-April 16, 2010Email from William Collins to Louis Hasbrouck

“Dear Louis,Yes we did have a plan with Tony which involved building bathrooms. We have

aggressively pursued getting financing for the project. Both Florence Savings and Bank of Western Mass have declined to lend us the money. So we are looking forward to meeting with you in order to discuss our options. Just wanted to give you heads up before we get together so you know what our position is, please let me know if you have availability sometime next week.

--Best, Bill”
