September is Healthy Aging Month As we age, we may think we can’t ‘do’ anything anymore. We should try to focus our attention on positive aspects of aging. It’s not too late to take control of our health or try something new. Here are some tips for reinventing yourself:
1. Acting our age: Thinking/acting younger helps us to feel better about ourselves. 2. Be positive in conversations and actions every day. 3. Smile often and stay away from negative people. 4. Walk like a vibrant healthy person. 5. Stand up straight. You will look and feel better. 6. Are you lonely? Take charge of the loneliness; call a friend, volunteer, take a class. 7. Start walking, not only for your health, but to meet your neighbors. 8. Get regular dental check-ups. Your smile is the first thing people see. 9. Set up your annual physical and other health screenings.
10. Find your inner artist: Take piano lessons, or take an art class. \
God truly cares how you treat your body, and He’s given you a free health plan to go by—the Bible!

CONSTRUCTION NOTES • Important Dates…
• September 16, 2018: Last day of entrance at northeast corner of the church (by elevator) can be used.
• September 17, 2018: Demolition and excavation begins.
• January 7, 2019: Begin sanctuary renovations
• April 12, 2019: Estimated completion date.
• Elevator Dismantled: The Building Committee would like to inform the congregation that effective Monday, August 27, the elevator is dismantled and no longer available for use. We apologize for any inconvenience that this will cause, but this work had to be done on short notice in order to fit into the work schedule of the elevator company. We also ask for your patience as this is the first of what will probably be more of these types of situations that will occur as our project moves forward.
• Ramp: The ramp is now available on the west side of the building. Thank you for
your patience. • Please Help: As access to our facility becomes more challenging for some of our
fellow worshippers during our construction project, members of American Lutheran are asked to help welcome and assist however possible. If you can volunteer to be available before and/or after either worship service near one of the entrances, or near the soon-to-be-constructed ramp, please call the church office at 507-376-5264. Thank you.
