Benefits of Deep Breathing We’ve all been told at some point in our life to “Take a deep breath.” It’s great advice. The benefits of deep breathing are countless. It helps us to relax, and is one of the best ways to lower stress. When we take a deep breath, it sends a message to ourx brain to calm down and relax. Deep breathing increases our supply of oxygen to the brain where it stimulates our nervous system to help promote a state of calmness.

Benefits include: • Natural painkiller- endorphins (our feel good) hormones are released • Improves blood flow • Improves our posture • Reduces inflammation • Detoxifies the body • Stimulates our lymphatic system • Improves our digestion • Relaxes our mind and body • Increases our energy level • Helps to clean out the lungs

The Hebrew word for spirit (ruach) is ‘air in motion.’ It is also the same word for ‘breath,’ and means ‘life.’ When you speak, it is through your breath that the words take form.

In Job 33:4 it says, “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” So, each time we breathe, remember, it is a gift from God!

ROSETTES for the Smorgasbord will be made on Thursday, October 11th in the church kitchen beginning at 8:30 a.m. Please call Jean at 372-2529 if you would be willing

to help or if you have a deep fryer we could use for frying.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES • Temporary Main Entrance is now located on the South side of the building

(Fellowship Hall doors).

• Ramp: Though we will not have an elevator until our project is completed, a ramp is available on the west side of the building. If you or someone you know could use assistance, please call ahead (376-5264). Thank you for your patience.

• Please Help: As access to our facility becomes more challenging for some of our fellow worshippers during our construction project, members of American Lutheran are asked to help welcome and assist however possible. If you can volunteer to be available before and/or after either worship service near one of the entrances, or near the ramp, please call the church office at 507-376-5264. Thank you.

• Important Dates…

• January 7, 2019: Begin sanctuary renovations

• April 12, 2019: Estimated completion date.

Watch here for more weekly updates!
