Essay Writing Literary Event Cultural Traditional related. Now-a-days as technology increasing in IT sector it has become a great
deal in social networking sites especially Facebook , Twitter and Youtube. As
there are many bad posts and comments regarding politicians which are kept by
youth for their iiiegal activites in popular sites for which the politicians are
showing their hatred towards youth by giving imprisonment for which The
Supreme Court is expected to deliver a verdict today on the validity of Section 66
A of Information and Technology Act 2000. The Section gives the police powers
to arrest those who post objectionable content online and provides for a three-year
jail term.
Body:
Internet has been the most useful technology of modern times not only
in daily life but also personal life. Most of the information regarding any kind of
news are passed very fastly and effectively through internet. It plays a crucial role
in public media. The lawyers of the petitioners had argued that the definition of
provision Section 66 A - material that is grossly menacing, offensive and cause
annoyance to public is vague and it may lead to abuse of the provision. They also
argued that even genuine comments criticising a person, and caricatures, are
23
treated as offence and people are harassed. For an example an recent incident
happen in which the petition
was filed in aftermath of arrest of two teenagers in Mumbai. They were let off after
the arrests provoked nationwide outrage and shifted the focus on the IT laws.
It was also alleged that the local police were misusing the laws at the behest of
politicians. After a few more similar arrests, the Union home ministry issued a
directive to all state governments that arrests under Section 66 A can only be made
with the approval of senior police officers. Most of the youth who are posting their
status, cartoons and images badly were arrested which were done by politicians.
Hence youth of india fought for their rights against the silencing Act 66 A in
supreme court making the politicians to move in right path.
Conclusion:
The basic premise of the law is to ensure that no innocent man gets
punished, even if it means letting go a 100 guilty ones. The law seeks to minimize
false positives. India is a democracy. And one of its basic pillars is the right to
freedom of speech and expression. And you cannot uphold that right if people are
constantly afraid of voicing their opinions, sending out mails, tweeting or
blogging.
