RESEARCH PAPERR

Bella Rene is a plus size fashion design firm located in Atlanta, Georgia. The company was established in 2007 by Kenyatta C. Jones. Their clothing line provides fashions for women in sizes 10-28. Kenyatta is focused on empowering women through fashion and helping them to look their best. Not only does she want to knock down the fashion barriers, but she wants to kick them in wearing any of her 300 pairs of stilettos.

The plus-size women’s clothing industry is a fast growing industry. Plus size clothing starts at size 14 but there are some designers! who don’t consider this to be plus-size. According to a report published on IBIS World, “over the next 10 years there will be an average annual growth of 4.4%”(Plus Size Women Clothing Stores). There has been a lack of stylish clothing for full-figured women and most designers will not create clothing in larger sizesbecause they don’t believe that larger women should be allowed to wear them.

The Bella Rene brand is expanding and was most recently portrayed on the WETV series House of Curves. This show follows the lives of the designer and her co-workers. We get a glimpse into what it takes to run and develop a successful clothing line. You tell that she has a true passion and drive for what she does. The fact that she is a plus size woman herself proves that she understands the needs of a woman of a larger size.

The current compeition for Bella Rene includes Monif C, Tru Diva and Shavonne Dorsey. Bella Rene stands out from the competition because they offer their fashions in sizes and styles that other designers would not consider for the plus size woman. Other designers will stop at size 22 or 24 but Bella Rena offers extended sizes to size 28. Bella Rene could increase their standing among the compeition by improving their online image. Their website needs to be updated to a cleaner and fresher look and they need to clean up their social media sites and become more interactive with their clients online.
