Avant-garde represents a pushing of the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm or the status quo, primarily in the cultural realm. The notion of the existence of the avant-garde is considered by some to be a hallmark of modernism, as distinct from postmodernism. Many artists have aligned themselves with the avant-garde movement and still continue to do so, tracing a history from Dada through the Situ-ationists to postmodern artists such as the Language poets around 1981

For this issue we decided to add some avant-garde flavor to our pages, I must say I am proud of all our contributors, they gave us something this issue that is colorful, pleasing to the eyes and to the body. Certainly something that the Ellements readers crave, make space on your shelves because this issue will be ‘eye-popper’. As always, special thanks to all those who contributed to this issue; you make it what it is. Its always humbling to see the work of awesome photographers in one publication; color, age and taste has no boundary when it comes to art.
