KINDERGARTEN
Fees Fees are an important part of kindy as they pay for quality sup-plies for your child, and every family has a responsibility to con-tribute. I have started to talk to some of you about your obliga-tion as per our fees policy. Late fees are added to your accounts if you were late picking up your child. $100 (sessional kindergarten) per term Staff child ratio It is necessary to make sure that the staff child ratio at the pre-school is followed through as per EDpolicy and regulation. There-fore, we can not allow children to be dropped at the kindy when-ever parents choose. If you need to swap or change session times, please organize it with us first. Lunch time sessions follow the same rule. The morning session starts at 8.45 and finishes at 11.45, and afternoon sessions start at 11.45 am. and finish at 2.45pm. Please make sure that you wait outside with your child before the session starts. While waiting please utilize the outside activities under the veranda or the playground/sandpit . Some Reminders
(NO EGGS, peanut butter, nutella or even traces of nuts (check
packages) it is very serious.
In case of a health emergency the ambulance will be called ( just
reminding parents about the ambulance cover). Most of our fami-
lies have ambulance cover, but a few still do not.
Also please note that we are following the Healthy food policy
and promoting Naked food.
Rollups, bars, cakes, milk…. are sent home.
Curriculum-learning program
This term we are concentrating on animals , particularly farm
animals. “Living Eggs” were delivered in week 4 and the children
had the opportunity to observe the hatching of chickens and their
growth over 2 weeks. The children are able to learn and explore
the kindy environment they are utilising while playing outside.
Playing with others politely and calmly, as well as following kindy
rules, at times proves to be difficult for a few of the children,.
therefore we are working with your children and asking you to
please talk and actively help your child to understand what posi-
tive play looks like. The responsibility of positive and appropriate
behaviour of each person and natural and clear consequences are
necessary and needed to be built and understood to support so-
cial justice . Remember to look at the floor book and to write a
comment about the week’s activities. Your comments and input
are important. We are visiting the E.E. School’s library and the
school children will visit EEK.
What can you see that supports the learning environment?
...the weekly programme by the sign-in sheet
...daily activities set up for your child (inside and outside)
...literacy kits to borrow
...name writing sheets for each child
...story-a-day (reading to your child at kindergarten)
...your child’s work in his/her profile book
...Percy-the-platypus
AND remember to ask staff if you have any questions/comments
regarding your child, the curriculum etc. Your child will benefit from
your involvement and support at the kindergarten as this is a visual
connection between home and the educational setting. Further-
more when you take the option to stay back we (EEK staff) will find
it easier to chat with you
Governing Council Our next meeting will be on 7/6Friday at 9.00am. I would like to acknowledge the wonderful work the GC members are undertaking for the kindergarten community! Please come along and be part of this group...children are welcome too! Numeracy Throughout the day while at kindergarten, the children learn con-stantly often without realising what they are learning. As parents and educators, we need to support their learning and help to ex-plore some mathematical concepts. Preschoolers are beginning to recognise numerals in the environment and discuss their purpose. They are beginning to use symbols, such as numbers and letters (often mixed up) in their drawings and paintings. While cooking , cleaning ,working in the garden, driving or walking remember to play games with your child using numerals, sounds of letters , syllables, describe what are you doing, ask questions and ask what they think. Parents are the first and the most important educators of their children. Working with all children,
We would like to acknowledge all of you who, not only stay and
play with your own children but also acknowledge and work with
their friends. “It takes a village to raise a child.” This is a safe envi-
ronment where everyone is respected and protected where this
saying has a meaning. We have noticed that some parents are not
participating in A-Story-A-Day, reading to their child at kindergar-
ten. Reading to your child really assists their literacy and numeracy
development so please take advantage of this to better prepare
your child for school.
Hats and appropriate clothing
The weather is just like Winter should be, please make sure that
your child brings his/her hat / beanie and other appropriate cloth-
ing for outdoor play.
Ela away I am taking some time off starting from week 8 I am going to visit my family in Poland. During my absence Chris will step up and will take on director’s role and Rhonda will be working here as a teacher.
