DearACSImembers,

IamhappytoreleasethenextissueofnewsletterofAssociationofCutaneousSurgeonsofIndia-ACSIPEN,thefirstof2016.IamindeedprivilegedtobesecretaryofACS(I)aswellaseditorofACSIPEN.Itishardtotakethistaskfrommypredecessor,energeticandalwaysenthusiasticDr.ShyamantaBaruawhohasprovedtobeanefficientsecretaryofACS(I)andeditorofACIPENwhomIalwayscomplementfordoingawonderfuljob.This

issueisbeingpublishedjustpriortoannualconferenceofACS(I)ACSICON2016.ItishearteningtolearnthattheACSICON2016,isscheduledfrom21stto23rdApril2016atMahabaleshwarwhichisknownforitsevergreenforestandlandofcultivationofstrawberries.

ThisACSIPENisfocusedtosensitizethemembersaboutthemattersrelatedtoACS(I)andtoencouragethemtoparticipateintheconference.Themainpurposeofthenewsletter istocommunicatetothemembers,allthecurrentactivitiesofourassociationandfutureprojects.Dr.NitiKhungerhasdoneacommendablejobasEditor-inchiefofJCASandImustcongratulateherandherentireeditorialteamforbringingoutqualityjournalonregularbasis.ThisyearacademyhasbeenstartedwhichwasinitiatedbyDr.KoushikLahiriduringhistenureasPresident.ImustcongratulateitsChairman,Dr.SomeshGuptaandConvener,Dr.AbhishekDefortheirmeticulousplanningandexecution.Twozonalworkshopsfocusingon basics in dermatosurgery, vitiligo surgeries, nail surgeries and hair transplantation were heldsuccessfully.Severalprojectshavebeenplannedfornextyearthroughoutthecountry.

We have continued membership drive initiated by previous EC. We have been sensitizing alldermatologists in India tobecomeACS(I)membersandpresentlymembershipnumberhastouched1450!

Ithank,ourpresidentACS(I),Col.Dr.ManasChatterjeeforhisconstantencouragementandsupportforalltheendeavorsofACS(I). Heistheforcebehindalltheactivities.IalsoimmenselythankourtreasurerDr.Shashi Kumar B M who has always been maintaining record meticulously and trying hard forcompletionoftimelyauditing.Hehasbeenhelpfulinallhiscapacitiesinadditiontohisjobastreasurer.IalsothankallExecutiveCommitteemembersfortheirconstantsupportandguidance.Iconsidermyselfprivilegedandfortunatetobeassociatedwithsuchaneliteandhighlyexperiencedteamofofficebearers.

ItistheendofourfirstyearatthehelmandtimeforanothereditionofACSIPEN.Thepastyearhasbeenactivewiththe formationandactivationof theACS(I)Academy.Twoworkshopshavebeenconductedunderitsaegis,bothresoundingsuccesses,intiertwocities.Severalplansareatvariousstagesoffructification,suchastheACS(I)AcademyProceduralDermatosurgerystepbystepguide,moreworkshopsaroundthecountryandtheformulationofACS(I)Dermatosurgeryguidelinestonameafew.

Plansareafoottohaveaprofessionalindemnitycumlegalserviceforourmemberswhichcoverallourprocedures.Negotiationswiththeserviceprovidersareon.ThisagainwouldbeafeatherinthecapofACS(I).

The last ACSICON has been a financial unprecedented success and we wish the same for ourMahabaleshwarACSICON.Takingupthestupendoustaskoforganisingtheconferenceatthisvenueisitselfamatterofcreditandtheorganisingandscientificcommitteeshavedoneanextraordinaryjobtoensureitssuccess.ThevenuevisitbyPresident,VicePresident(DrTSalim)andSecretarywascordialandfruitfulanditssuggestionshavebeenimplemented.Welookforwardtothisevent.

ThenextconferenceatBangalorewillbeinconjunctionwithIACDandACSICONwithWCOCDwouldbethefirstworldcongressinourspecialitytobeheldinIndia.ArguablythebestteaminIndiachaparonedbyourpastPresidentDrVenkataramMysorewouldIamsuremakeitablueribandevent.

Duringthepastyear,theACS(I)studyonthestabilityofVitiligoledbyDrImranMajidhasbeenpublishedandthatonIsotretinoinandproceduresisinreviewstageswithJCAS.

ComingtoJCAS,ourAssociationaccountsareinahappystatebutweneedtodomorefortheaccountsofJCAS.AchangeofguardandappointmentofamanagingeditorwhichhavebeendoneduringourcentralcouncilmeetingatCoimbatore inJanuarythisyearwouldrevitalise the financesof the journal, Iamoptimistic.

Membership has been increasing steadily courtesy the stimulus of the conference andmore of ourmembersareintotheseriousbusinessofdermatosurgery,whichissuchaswelcomesign.Asmoreofourworkshopscontinueincitiesoutsideofthemetros,Iamsuremoreofourmemberswouldbenefitfromthemandevolveintheirskillstoensurethatdermatosurgicaloptionsareavailabletoourneedypatientsaroundthecountry.

All in all, ACS(I) is progressing steadily and attempting to spread the awareness and scope ofdermatosurgery simultaneously with providing members with the skills and logistics to ensure itscontinuedperformance.IamenthusedbytheresponseofourmemberstoourvariousannouncementsandprojectsandIamsurethatwewouldcontinuetomakethiskindofsteadyprogressintheensuingyear.
