Clifford J. Schorer Director, Entrepreneur in Residence Program, Columbia Business School and Co-Director, Innovation and Entrepreneurship @ Columbia University [email protected] Following a successful business career founding a number of startups and serving as the CEO of GEOVideo Networks in partnership with Lucent Technologies, Bell Laboratories, specializing in the technology for transmitting HD video over fiber, Cliff joined Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business faculty as the Director of the Entrepreneur in Residence program. In the spring of 2005, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Award for his contribution to the study of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Columbia and in 2007 he received the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence. In 2012 Columbia Business School raised an endowment in Cliff’s name in recognition for his efforts in supporting young entrepreneurs. In the spring of 2013 Cliff launched the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program at Columbia. The program, a cross campus initiative that received applications from 102 teams (over 400 people) from which 12 teams were selected as part of an intense program to launch enterprises based on intellectual property and business concepts generated by faculty, administrators, and students. In addition to his involvement with Columbia, Cliff is a founding partner of Greenwich Energy Solutions a company specializing in creating energy efficient environments for over 600 residential buildings in New York. During the early 90’s he worked in Russia on behalf of the United Nations to assist in the privatization process by helping to identify entrepreneurial opportunities that would assist in the development of the “new economy.” He has served on a number of boards including Landauer Metropolitan, a large, privately owned supplier of medical equipment, and Chairman of RecycleBank, serving over four million homes with a recycling rewards program from 2006 through 2010.
