Warning on safety and use

These symbols together with the words “danger” and “attention”

indicate risk possibilities due to not respecting the corresponding indications.

DANGER To disregard this warning could mean a risk of electrocution.

DANGER To disregard this warning could mean harm to persons or things.

ATTENTION To disregard this warning could mean harm to persons or things.

Before using the equipment, carefully read through this manual, it is necessary for your understanding and correct use of the pump and assures maximum performance whilst considering the safety of the worker. The electric part of the pump should be handled with the pump stopped and WITHOUT TENSION, the terminals box should be closed. The equipment should have electric and hydraulic disconnection devices, as well as allowing any maintenance work to be made safely. Transport and storage: The pump does not require any special transport conditions, and it is conveniently protected with adequate packing. Use:

The temperature of the pumped liquid should not surpass 50º C

The electric pump cannot be used for swimming pools.

The submersible pump that you have acquired is for pumping clean water or water that is not chemically nor mechanically aggressive with a contents of solid substances in suspension of « 50 gr./m3. The guarantee of the pump is valid only for intermittent use. Should the possibility of the presence of aggressive chemical agents in the pumped liquid subsist, verify beforehand the resistance of the materials used for the construction of the product. The electric pumps cannot be used for corrosive or abrasive liquids, fuels or other chemical and explosive products. Electrical connection:

Electric cable should correspond to EEC standards CEE or to type HO7RN-F as per VDE O25O. The electrical installation should dispose of a protection system by differential switch. Single-phase motors have built-in thermal protection. For three-phase motors, the end user should foresee protection as per the required standards in force. The connection sketches make a correct electrical connection easier.

An electrical test made by a specialised technician, before the installation of the electric pump, will serve to verify that all safety measures as per standards in force have been respected. Verify that the tension and la frequency correspond to the data indicated on the pump label.

The electrical connection must be earthed conforming to legislation and the supplied tension to the motor ± 10 % of the rating on the label. Calibrate the protection relay, the rating of which should be superior to the label indication of the electric pump by máx. 5 %. Once the motor has been put into operation, control that the rating of the current (Amps) does not surpass the rating indicated on the label. The use of the pump is not authorised in swimming pools nor water baths, unless a safety contactor has been assembled. Request information from a specialised technician. The electrical connections must be protected against damp. If a risk of flooding should exist, the connections should be displaced to a protected area.

Should it be necessary to extend the electric cable, you must control that the same be of good quality and an adequate section with regards to length and the motor power. The union must be made by competent personnel and with material that guarantees perfect insulation between the conductors, and be hermetic and watertight.

The single-phase pump is equipped as a standard with built-in thermal protection that protects tension overloads and eventual blocking. For the three-phase version this should be done by the end user. The single-phase version also incorporates a capacitor (except for series BR). If the pump stops due to overheating, it will start up again after a sufficient time for cooling of approximately 15 minutes (meanwhile eliminate the reasons for overheating). CONTROL OF THE TURNING DIRECTION:

On single-phase models it is not necessary to control the turning direction.

For the three-phase version, before starting up the electric pump, verify the turning direction by acting in the following manner with maximum safety:

Start up the electric pump observing the quantity of water supplied. Stop it and invert two of the phase conductors. Restart and compare the new capacity of water with respect to the previous observation. The correct turning direction corresponds to the greater capacity supplied in operation. It is advisable not to turn the electric pump in the inverted direction for more than 3 minutes. INSTALLATION:

Maximum immersion depth (see table of technical characteristics).

After the assembly of the electric pump in a well (hole), carefully close the opening with maximum safety.

Whoever uses the pump should foresee an alarm in the installation or another pump to avoid damaged due to flooding, caused by breakdown of the installed electric pump.

During installation do not hold nor carry the electric pump by means of the electric cable.

Make sure that the well, tank or deposit are wide enough to take the electric pump and that they supply sufficient water capacity to guarantee correct working with a minimum number of start-ups per hour .

Furthermore, before installation, make sure that they are clean of sand, remains or other foreign materials that could obstruct the hydraulic conducts of the electric pump.

For electric pumps that do not have an automatic float switch, it will be necessary to install a control system by minimum level probes, that prevents the electric pump from working dry. (Fig. 1).

Fix a rigid pipe or rubber tube to the outlet of the electric pump. Verify that the pipe or tube is not bent and that the diameter is the same as that of the pump discharge.

The ELIAS electric pump can be provided in the automatic version with float switch. However, should it be necessary to lengthen or shorten the distance between the fixture point of the float and the float itself, make sure that the switch makes the pump stop at the minimum water level. Attention! The distance between the fixture point and the float should not be less than 10 cm. OPERATION:

The electric pump should never run dry. Connect the plug to the electric current.

Electric pumps with floats automatically turn on as son as the maximum water level has been reached and they stop when the level is minimum. (Fig. 2). MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR: Unplug the pump before starting any maintenance job.

Should the electric pump work incorrectly it is necessary to exclusively address a specialised workshop, authorised to make repairs. To open and modify the electric pump is allowed only under authorisation of the manufacturer. Only original spare parts should be used. It should be remembered that we do not take any responsibility whatsoever for any damage to our electric pump if it has been opened and manipulated without our authorisation or that of an authorised workshop. The same goes for any non original spare parts that have been unduly assembled. The same conditions are valid for any eventual accessories supplied with the electric pump. Should the electric pump be used with liquids that leave deposits, it is recommended to effect frequent washing with clean water. To avoid eventual problems to the electric pump after long periods of use, we recommend a yearly control, always in a specialised workshop.

The following parts should be controlled during maintenance:

CONTROL SOLUTION Deterioration of the watertight joints Substitute for new ones

Deterioration of the impeller Substitute for a new one

Deterioration of O’rings Substitute for new ones. Never use damaged O’rings.

FAULTS: CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS CAUSE SOLUTION The pump does not start up

Lack of tension Control that it is plugged in and that there is tension on the line.

Blocked impeller Dismount the grid and verify that the impeller turns freely without dismounting it

The float is not working Manually activate the float and check that it rises in a normal way

The pump turns but the amount of water supplied is almost nil or nil Low speed due to insufficient tension Stop the pump. Control the tension and the electric

installation The water level is under the minimum of the suction

Stop the pump. Control the float on the automatic version

Blocked suction grid Clean the grid and eventually the hydraulic part Blocked discharge pipe Dismount the pipe and clean it The pump stops due to overheating and the consequent intervention of the motor thermal protection The electric supply does not conform to the data on the motor plaque

Unplug. The pump cannot be used on the existing installation.

Something solid has blocked the hydraulic part Control the hydraulic part

The pump has operated dry. The pump has worked with very hot water

If the pump has not been damaged, after 15 min. the pump will automatically start up. Eliminate whatever caused the overheating
