A bit about ergonomics

Scandinavia and especially Denmark lead the way when it comes to combining sitting and standing during the working day as being the only way for most people to have a healthy lifestyle in the modern office. Endless hours can be soaked up tapping into a keyboard sometimes to the exclusion of anything else, without the option to stand up an 'old school' static desk generates a very sedentary work lifestyle.

Healthy ergonomics often just makes sense and is completely logical when things such as helping blood circulation by regular muscle use and movement are considered.

So the logic is already there, all we have to do is put that into practice and of course to do that we need the right tools, be it in an office doing data entry on a computer, cutting fabric as a dress maker, using a microscope as a scientist or even designing the fastest racing car on the grid.

Before you buyConSet have desks of different designs and frames with different tested peak lifting loads, 70 kg, 80 kg, 100 kg, 125 kg, 150 kg and 200 kg.

Your choice of table …

Choose the right combination, your ConSet dealer will be pleased to help you do that. Consider the LOAD and TASK when choosing the right desk series for you.

LOAD

The kg figures show the tested peak lifting load of the single column and two column desk frames. The three column variants generally have a lower peak load due to the effect of the motor driving an extra leg. This is shown on the product pages but please always ask your ConSet dealer if you need more detail.

• The weight of the tabletop itself ( e.g. a 160 cm x 80 cm top weighs about 20 kg, whilst a 200 cm x 80 cm top weighs 25 kg )

• The total weight of the items on your tabletop. Some desks become loaded over time with books, magazines, filing trays in addition to PC, printer, scanner. If in doubt then always buy the heavier option if your budget allows.

• The speed of upward travel will be slower as load is increased.

TASK

As a rule the frames working load should be under 80 % of the tested peak load. For specific data or heavier working loads contact your ConSet dealer as there are some exceptions.

If you are working using an electronic microscope for example you will need the firmest stability. eg. a 501-11 desk will feel more solid standing than a 501-17. On the other hand the 501-17 is adequate for the tasks of writing and using a personal computer and it will be much easier to move than a 501-11.

Other issues to consider could include long working hours or multi-shift use. We want your desk to last well beyond the warranty period. A 150 kg frame used with a 60 kg load will usually last longer than a 80 kg frame with a 60 kg load.

Storage furniture

ConSet bookcases can be placed on top of each other or you can use them individually and add a plinth or legs or wheels. Suitable as a room divider as they come with a finished backside.

The mobile cabinets are available with three or four drawers. All drawers have ball bearing runners and a lockable top drawer. The bottom drawer of the 3A 400 takes A4-files. The two front wheels can be locked.

Bookcases and pedestals are available in beech and maple veneer only ( not melamine ). For beech and maple veneer tabletops see conset.org.uk

For the three drawer version the bottom drawer is suitable for

A4 suspension files. The top drawer is lockable

ConSet tabletops are made from 22 mm thick MDF board and have the same profile edge shape with a standard corner radius of 33 mm.

The edges have clear lacquer coating apart from the black and white tops, these have black and white lacquered edges accordingly.

All tabletops are made from prefinished boards and cannot be selected for suite matching or * matching between adjacent tops. It is important to be aware of this especially when buying the veneer versions as natural grain patterns and shading will always vary.

Cable ports

Many standard models come with cable ports included, please study the line drawing as this will indicate if cable ports are included.

They are always black 80 mm diameter except for white tabletops, these have white cable ports.

It is normal that the port hole may partly overlap the desk frame.

For Desk Designer tabletops cable ports are £ 20 per pair or £ 15 for one.

For four people the tabletops can be from 100 x 60 cm up to 140 x 80 cm rectangular ( fig. A ) or up to 120 x 100 cm with scoop tops ( fig. B )

For six people the tabletops can be 80 x 60 cm or 80 x 80 cm rectangular ( fig. C )

To make any of these combinations simply take 1 x 600 -1S modular frame add the number of 501-19 9S W required plus the tabletops.Then you have all you need to create the group workstation.
