Chhattisgarh was carved out in 2000, as it was once a part of Madhya Pradesh before
the main diversification.
ELECTIONS HELD FOR FIRST TIME IN CHHATTISGARH
The first State Assembly elections in Raipur were held in 2000. In the second, third and the fourth elections held in
2003, 2008 and 2013 respectively, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the winning party.
RAIPUR ELECTIONS STATISTICS
The Raipur constituency covers the whole district of Raipur, whose administrative seat is the Raipur city. With a population of 10, 10,087, Raipur is the capital city of Chhattisgarh. The elections in Raipur
are conducted as per the pre decided by the government of India.

The elections in Raipur start with the declaration of dates by the election commission. Publishing of electoral rolls is a key process that happens before the elections and is vital for the
conduct of elections in India.

According to the Indian Constitution, the eligibility for voting is 18 years and above.
Before the elections the voter has to enrol for voting.

• The candidates are required to file the nomination papers.
• No party is allowed to use the government resources for campaigning.
• No party is allowed to bribe the candidates before elections.
• The government cannot start a project during the election period.
• The campaigning ends at 6 PM of the second last day before the polling day.
CURRENT SCENARIO OF ELECTIONS
BJP won for third time in the elections that was held in 2014. BJP won by 49 seats out of the 91 seats.
