Envision

Overall, we want the eLearning page to be user friendly for the trainees so no

time is wasted where they have to navigate themselves to get to the right page.

We will be using Udemy as our eLearning tool, which will include materials

such as text, documents, videos and images to guide our learners. As soon as the

trainees begin the course, the course outline will be explained as well as an

introduction to the course.

The trainees are allowed to revisit any modules they have done to refresh the

memory. At the end of each module, a quiz will take place to help the trainees review

the knowledge. Then at the end of all modules, the trainees will have to complete a

few exercises to apply the knowledge learned. This would be a combination of short

answer type of question and multiple choices, and this eLearning will be facilitated. A

discussion section will be available for trainees to ask questions and exchange ideas.

A live chatting session will also be available every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. for

trainees and the facilitator.

Future Implication

The experience of building this eLearning package was wonderful. We had the

experience of creating an eLearning package from scratch and the skills that we

obtained were unforgettable. Due to the time constraints, we could not create our ideal

eLearning package. In the future, we hope to create the entire eLearning package

using videos and publish it on Uemy. By using videos, we believe that the participants

will have better experience learning. In addition, we would like to incorporate voice

over to all of our videos in order to accommodate people with disabilities and various

learning styles. We are taking gamification into consideration as learners learn better

if there is an interactive game rather than reading or listening to a traditional lecture. A

website called Second Life could be a great tool only if we can open our own space

that only allows participants taking this course.

We would also like to develop the package into an App due to the popularity of

smartphones. This allows the users to download the App from Apple store or Google

play store onto their phones and get the training everywhere they go.

Furthermore, we hope to offer this eLearning in multiple languages in the future,

so essentially everyone in the world can benefit from it.

Universal Instructional Design Principles

This eLearning package can be accessed whenever and wherever there is internet

or wireless connection internet. However, not every participant has stable or high

speed internet. Therefore, a Power Point document will be provided for participates to

Page 25: eLearning Project Plan Part II · 2015. 6. 22. · You can also use the same skills to deal with people in business meetings or seminars. In this eLearning, you will learn on how

download. So they can have access to the eLearning even if there is no internet

connection. A complete course outline will also be provided for reference.

The language that is used in the eLearning package is simple. Since Canada is a

multicultural country, not everyone’s English is perfect. Therefore with the simple

language, everyone can learn the materials easily. Our eLearning package contains

words explaining the material with the assistant of images and videos to emphasize

the concepts.

This eLearning supports an open learning environment that allows independent

learning which encourages learners to be self-motivated. However, if there are

concerns regarding to the materials, they have access to the facilitators. We are trying

our best to accommodate visual, auditory and reading-writing learners as well as

people with disabilities. Due to the time constraints, we could not satisfy the 3 types

of learners completely. However, in the future, we aim to accommodate various

learning styles.

We also encourage interactions among participants and facilitators to share and

discuss ideas and thoughts. This allows everybody who is involved in the eLearning

to not only learn from the teaching material, but also from each other’s personal

experiences. After all, concepts and theories are different from real life experiences.

Resources

The tools that were used for this eLearning were Udemy, Pow Toon, Bitstrips,

PowerPoint Slides and Sound Recorder. Udemy is the website where we created our

course on. Pow Toon is a video production website where we created all of our videos

and Bitstrips was where we created comics to illustrate different scenarios. PowerPoint

was used to created our lecture slides and Sound Recorder to record our voice over.

The content was from websites such as United Nations Environment Programme

and Total Success. The images used are from Google search engine, all the images

used are referenced.
