C A F EReader’s workshop will focus on strategies that
fall into these areas.
Comprehension- “I understand what I read.”
Accuracy- “I can read the words.”
Fluency- “I can read accurately, at the appropriate pace and with expression.”
Expand Vocabulary- “I know, find and use interesting words.”
Instruction in these areas occurs in whole group lessons as well as in one-on-one conferences and small groups.

Good fit BooksDuring reader’s workshop, students read books at their independent reading level. As a parent, you can reinforce this by asking if they are choosing “good fit” books from the library. They have been taught to use this strategy:
