EITA & World Clean-up Day 21 Sept 2019 On 21 Sept 2019, EITA participated in the World Clean-up Day event. A team of 36 EITArians together with other volunteers (corporate and individuals) were assigned a certain clean-up route starting from Merdeka MRT Station all the way to Bukit Bintang MRT Station. A coach was hired to transport EITA staff from our Subang HQ to Merdeka MRT Station. A group of us including staff’s children started our bus journey around 7:15 am and met up with other EITA volunteers at this station. We distribute gloves and masks to all our EITA volunteers. While waiting for other volunteers, EITA staff took the opportunity to visit the Merdeka MRT station and had some fun group pictures taken. FYI, this underground station is one of 7 other underground stations using our EITA-Schneider Elevator/Escalator system. At about 8:15 am, the organisers held a briefing for all volunteers regarding the route, working in teams, safety matters and rubbish segregation. Despite the hazy conditions, all volunteers were excited to participate in this worthy event. While picking up the rubbish, we had to segregate them immediately in several categories, namely, plastic, straws, aluminium/metal, glass and general waste.

At about 10:45 am, we met up with other volunteers covering other routes at the final check-point at Bukit Bintang MRT Station. Here, we had to carry out a cleanup audit by counting the various rubbish and weighing them.

It was truly a FUN and FULFILLING day.

At the end, all EITA volunteers were given a KFC voucher as token of appreciation for their hard work. At around 12:00 noon, we then took the coach back to Subang/HQ. While on the bus, EITArians expressed their keenest in taking part in such future cleanup projects, such as, river cleanup.
