As you read through your Watermark
University catalog for the spring, 2016
semester, be sure to take note of those
courses that interest you, and highlight them so you won't
miss out on something interesting during the next four
months. Each month, as you browse through the monthly
calendar, be sure to return to your catalog for descriptions of
each course offered during that month. Watermark University
classes are always noted with a "WU" so they are easy to find.
Watermark UniversityDecorating or gift giving on a budget? In this course, we'll create
beautiful gifts and home décor without spending much if any
money at all! Most of the materials we will need can be found
around the house! Some of these items will include; wine corks,
mason jars and old picture frames, just to name a few. This class is
instructed by Tresha Tramel, Activity and Volunteer Coordinator at
the Springs, and takes place the 4th Monday of each month at 1pm.
So if you have a knack for crafting or have always been interested
in crafts then this is the course for you! And the best part is, each
craft is made with love!

January 2016
Springs
Ein frohesneues JahrNo need to adjust your
glasses-just wishing you a
Happy New Year in German as
we enter another month in
our "Meal in the life" year of
dining with an international
flair. This January we
celebrate the German culture
with an array of activities
centered around the German way of life. You'll have opportunities
to sample German cuisine and enjoy learning about this beautiful
country through music, art, video, and crafts. Perhaps you join in a
class to learn some German words, or assist in a cooking class. And
it's a pretty safe bet that there will be beer and pretzels available
to you this month! January also marks the beginning of a new
semester of Watermark University. Check out the new catalog to
plan your participation in recurring as well as new classes. Better
yet, find a "buddy" with interests similar to yours and join in on a
class together. There is something for everyone. Happy New Year!
Path to Well-BeingTake Charge of Your Health in 2016
Most people depend on different
doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and
insurance companies for their health
care. It's a team effort, and you are the
most important member of the team, so
don't leave your well-being to chance.
Follow these tips:
*Keep track of important health
information.
*Know your family health history.
*See a doctor regularly for checkups.
*Be prepared for medical appointments.
*Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist
questions.
Don't wait for your doctor to take the
lead. Today, a good patient-doctor
relationship is more of a partnership,
and. you, with your medical team can
work together to keep you healthy.
ThrivingResidents at the Springs have had lots of company the last few months.
Some of them being girls belonging to sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, at
Western Michigan University. The group of at least twenty young
women worked diligently to plan and coordinate activities that would both
intrigue the residents and help them thrive. Some of these activities
included memory games, exercise classes, group discussions and a
sundae bar. No doubt that these ladies put in the leg work to promote
brain and body fitness and nurture the spirit. The residents loved the
time they spent with these kind-hearted and intelligent ladies and looked
forward to their visits. It is obvious that these young future leaders felt the
same way. The evidence was in their smiling faces, positive energy, and
dedication to enriching the lives of others.
