Worthy Brother Knights, Vivat Jesus,

Welcome to our new Brother Knights: James Knittel, Eric Barton and David Belletini. Thanks to Scott Cronin and Kevin Flynn for your sponsorship of these new Monaghan Council Knights. Also welcome back to Adam Richmond who is a reactivation, and Joseph Randazzo who is a transfer in to Monaghan’s.

I am proud to report that our Council was awarded 20,000 VIP Points for our new membership growth through December 2015. Bonus VIP Points are still being offered for Knights who sponsor new candidates through June 30th. In addition, the Council gets VIP Points and the potential for financial credit to our Council. The bottom line is that it’s a great time to ask someone to become a Monaghan Council Knight. Our Membership Director is Paul St. Clair and if you know somebody interested in joining, you can contact Paul at [email protected] for help.

The annual Adult Trivia was Saturday, February 20th and a good time for attendees. Thank you to Mike Meister and his wife Denise for coordinating and emceeing this event.

The Donne Gals will be hosting a Charity Euchre Tournament on Saturday, February 27th. Registration at 6pm and play starts at 7pm. The entry fee is only $20 and includes euchre, pizza and pop. A cash bar will be available. There will be cash prizes and a 50/50 raffle. The proceeds benefit local charities and the Donne Gals’ Living Your Faith Scholarship Fund.

The Lenten Season is upon us. The Monaghan Council Friday Fish Fry is in full swing from 5pm to 8pm every Friday. The menu includes Pollock or Cod, fried or baked, and a variety of other fish and entrees to choose from. We’re the best place to meet up with friends and family for a fish fry, socializing and drinks.

Calling all Knights! The Mentally Impaired Drive (MI Drive) is Friday, Saturday and Sunday March 18th, 19th, and 20th. Please find a couple of hours to support this worthy cause. The Donne Gals are in full fundraising mode. Our bake sales will continue through Lent at the Friday Monaghan fish fry. Our members make homemade delicacies that we offer for donations. The first two Fridays have been very successful. If you are thinking about a Friday fish fry, stop by Monaghan’s for a delicious fish dinner and support our bake sale.

Our other fundraiser this month is the annual euchre tournament on Saturday, February 27th. Registration starts at 6pm and the tournament begins at 7pm. The cost is only $20 for euchre, pizza and soda with cash bar is available. All players are welcome – novice to expert.

The Donne Gals will be holding a 50/50 raffle during the St. Patrick’s Parade Day party at the Monaghan Council on Sunday, March 13th. This is a fun event with live Irish music, Irish dancers and Irish food.

These fundraising events help to support our Living Your Faith Scholarship. This is awarded to a Catholic lady going into college. Applications are accepted starting in spring and the winner is announced at the Monaghan Council Picnic held at the Council in July.

Notice: there will not be a March Donne Gals meeting due to the St. Patrick’s Day events.

If you are Catholic lady interested in joining the Donne Gals, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].

Sincerely,Julie Maher, Recording Secretary

Around the CouncilGrand Knight Message continued from pg 1

I often hear the comment, “How do I know what’s going on at the Council?” The answer is to check out our website, www.monaghankofc.org. The streaming banner on the home page will tell you the events coming up soon, or go to the upcoming events tab for a list of all the events. You should subscribe to the Monaghan Newsletter at the bottom of the page and you will get an email notice and link when the monthly newsletter is available. The newsletter is available in print form at the Council. If you are thinking about advertising, your ad will now be in print and on the website.

If you are looking for a place to hold your next party, use your Monaghan Council. The dining room can be rented for $110 and the Building Association will refund that cost after your event. Contact Rose Catering to book the event and Rose Catering will offer a nice food package that is optional. Call Rose Catering to book your next event at 248-476-8385. If you have any questions please feel free to contact your Grand Knight at [email protected].

As a reminder, our Council Member Meetings are always the third Tuesday of the month. This is an opportunity to find out what’s going on at your Council. It is also the appropriate time to provide feedback or suggestions about Council events. After the meeting, the Council provides food and drinks to build fraternity among Members.
