    a message from Apostle Price

In this issue of the maazine, we are focusin on the subject of the Holy Spirit. Its an often mis-understood and shunned subject in todays churches. But once you understood who the HolySpirit is and the power that the Holy Spirit brins, you wont deny its place in your life.

I was in ministry for years without the Holy Spirit so I know first-hand the benefits of beinfilled. I did not accept Christ as my personal Savior and Lord until the year I was married. My wifeand I soon joined a Baptist church in our area. About a month after we started attendin thatchurch, the Lord called me into the ministry. I was in the church when Jesus spoke to me as Hespoke to Paul on the Damascus road. He told me, in what seemed to me to be an audible voice,"You are to preach My gospel." I heard it so clearly that I turned around to see who spoke to me.Nobody was there, so I knew it had to be Jesus, and that I had been called into the ministry.

After we had attended the church a while, I started hearin wordslike sanctification, rihteousness, Holy Spirit. I had also beun read-

in the Bible, and I would read these accounts of people bein filledwith the Spirit. I asked the people at the church about bein filledwith the Spirit, and I was told that when I accepted Jesus as my per-sonal Savior and Lord, I was automatically filled with the HolySpirit.

I went on for 17 years thinkin I was filled with the Holy Sprit.Eventually, I reached a point where I was spiritually dry. I knewthere was somethin missin, but I did not know what that some-thin was. I did not know how to explain it, where to find it, or what

to do. I was so frustrated that I was ready to say, "Foret it," andleave the ministry. Finally, the Lord showed me throuh various sit-

uations that I was not filled with the Spirit. There are too many cases of a lot of zeal and commitment bein expelled without any power,

and a direct result of that is a lot of mediocre witnessin. Jesus would not tell usabout receivin the power if we did not need it. And when it comes to oinabout the Lord's business, we definitely need it. The word translated as powerin Acts 1:8 really means "ability." Without the power of the Holy Spirit, wedo not have the supernatural ability to be as effective as we can be.

I ure you, if you havent already, to acquaint yourself with theHoly Spirit so that you can walk in power. You will never reret it.

he Holy Spirit is really a person, adivine person. He is on the same level

as god the Father and Christ Jesus, and like god the Father and Jesus, He is a dis-tinct personality. Yet all three of these distinctindividuals comprise the oneand only true god.

This is not as complex a con-cept as it may sound, and it isentirely scriptural. In genesis5:1-2, we have this statement:

This is the book of theenealoy of Adam. In the daythat god created man, Hemade him in the likeness ofgod.

He createdthem male andfemale, andblessed themand called themMankind in theday they werecreated.

god uses thesinular and the plural toetherin this verse because "Mankind"is actually the name for man ineneral. Man and woman are ofthe species "Mankind." They

are both called Mankind, yetthey are plural because they areseparate persons, and they haveseparate personalities and func-tions. Accordin to the abovescriptures, we can say Mankind is one, yet he istwo.

In the same sense, god is one, yet He isthree Father, Son and Holy Spirit and all

throuh the Bible, there are references thatindicate this plurality. The most famous ofthese references is in genesis 1:26, whichstates, Then god said, "Let Us make man inOur imae, accordin to Our likeness...." Usand Our indicate more than one, yet the wordsimae and likeness are sinular. They are of

the same species god yet their personali-ties and functions are completely different.

There are many verses in the Bible whichshow us the Holy Spirit's personality. Forexample, Paul tells us in Romans 8:27:

Now He who searches thehearts knows what the mind ofthe Spirit is, because He makesintercession for the saintsaccordin to the will of god.

The word Spirit here is capi-

talied, as it should be. Usually, when you see Spirit capitalied,it refers to the Holy Spirit, notto man's spirit. You are a spirit.god is a Spirit. Jesus is a Spirit, anels are spirits, demons arespirits, Satan is a spirit, and theHoly Spirit is a Spirit.

The phrase the mind of theSpirit indicates the Holy Spirithas a mind. Havin a mind pre-supposes havin a will, and Paul

    adds in 1C o r i n t h i a n s12:11:

But one andthe same Spiritworks all thesethins, distribut-

in to each oneindividually asHe wills.

So the HolySpirit also has a will. In Isaiah

63:10, we have another aspect of the HolySpirit listed:

    But they [the children of Israel] rebelledand rieved His Holy Spirit;

So He turned Himself aainst them as anenemy,

And He fouht aainst them. You have to have a personality to experi-

ence rief. Accordin to this verse, the HolySpirit can be rieved, so the Holy Spirit notonly has a mind and a will, but also emotions.

8 EVER INCREASING FAITH MAgAzINE Issue 3 Vol. 9 No. 3

We have still another aspect of the HolySpirit shown to us in genesis 6:3:

And the LORD said, "My Spirit shall notstrive with man forever, for he isindeed flesh...."

The statement strive withman does not mean we areenaed in a tu-of-war withthe Holy Spirit. One of the pur-poses for the Holy Spirit'sbein here in the earth-realm is

to awaken an awareness inunsaved people that they areestraned and separated from god, that godloves them, and that He has pro-vided a way for their estrane-ment to be reconciled throuhJesus Christ. He places that con-viction in their hearts so they willseek god and eventually acceptJesus as their personal Savior andLord. That is what is meant bythe phrase strive with man.

Many ministers of the gospel, especiallymany years ao, thouht they were supposedto preach people under conviction. Theywould use everythin they could to make peo-ple feel uilty so they could brin them to aplace of acceptin Christ asSavior and Lord. But that is

not really the minister 's job.All the minister is supposed

to do is impart the Word ofgod to the people. Faith comesby hearin the Word. Once thatWord oes out, and faith comes, the HolySpirit can brin an understandin to the indi-vidual hearin the Word that he or she needsJesus as Savior and Lord.

Jesus reveals even more about the HolySpirit in John 14:26:

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whomthe Father will send in My name, He will teachyou all thins, and brin to your remembranceall thins that I said to you."

The Holy Spirit teaches us, and He wit-nesses to us about the thins of god. Jesus

restates this in John 15:26, where He says:"But when the Helper comes, whom I shallsend to you from the Father, the Spirit of truthwho proceeds from the Father, He will testifyof Me."

In both these verses, Jesus uses the termHelper. That describes another job the HolySpirit has to assist or help the Body ofChrist. The Holy Spirit is also the Spirit of

truth. Whenever He is around, He will tell youonly the truth. Whenever there are lies, theHoly Spirit is not involved.

Another duty assined tothe Holy Spirit is listed in John16:8:

"And when He has come,He will convict the world of sin,and of rihteousness, and ofjudment."

The Holy Spirit will convictand convince the world notthe Church, but the world. Thisoes alon with the strivinwith man that we saw ingenesis 6:3. The world needs tobe convinced and convictedbecause it does not have theWord of god and needs Christ.

The Church has the Word, andit should be brouht under con-

viction relative to its relationship with theLord by the Word. EIF

    He placesconviction

    in theirhearts sothey will

    seek God.

11EVER INCREASING FAITH MAgAzINE Issue 3 Vol. 9 No. 3

    pastors

or many years I have observed the

children of the Most Hih god,who are supposed to be saved, livetheir lives at a level that is lower

than the standard that the Word of god hasset for them to live and operate.

Why would god redeem His people andthen expect them to live at the very bottomscale in lifeunable to manae a stable lifefor themselves and their families? He would

not! This is not to shame people for theirpresent standard of livin but to raise thebarto elevate gods people so that theworld will see how god has blessed them.

god wants all of His children to flow inHis wisdom and understandin so that yourpresent livin standard is raised to a hiherlevel. Even if you are livin very well, you willstrive to live even hiher. Reardless of your

ae or color, you will live better.Born-aain: what does that mean? When you receive Jesus Christ as your

personal Savior and Lord, you are in Christand you became a new creature in ChristJesus. You are now a person who can noloner live without Christ. He is yours andyou are His. You were livin a life of sindoin whatever came to your mind; the Holy

Spirit takes you from that lifestyle and raftsyou into the lifestyle of Jesus, a lifestyle thatknows no sin. A lifestyle that is above sin.You are now a new person one that has neverlived before. Think of this as one who neverexisted before.

All old thins (the sin nature that causedyou to live separate from gOD) has passed

away and all thins in your life havebecome new! When you are born-aain, youreceive the life and nature of god in your

spirit; once aain, YOU ARE A BRANDNEW PERSON! But please understandthis is not all there is this is just a start! Manypeople become born-aain and they arehappy but this is where they stop. However, god has provided much more!EIF

    OUR COVENANT RIGHTS

What and where did these covenant

rihts come from? They came from god!How god loved man so very much that Hecame into covenant with man; not for godssake but for mans. Without gods love, mankind would cease to exist. This is trueeven if people believe or not. Even if peoplelive or die it is still true.

Therefore, our Salvation Packaeincludes not only missin Hell and oin to

Heaven but it involves every aspect of ourlives spirit, soul and body. When webecome born-aain by gods Spirit, we alsopartake of His Divine Nature (2 Peter 1:2-4).

The greek words for saved and salva-tion are "Soo" and "Soteria" which mean tosave, deliverance, safety/protection, preser-vation, soundness and healin.

Meditate everyday on the Scripturesbelow; et them into your heart. You will be

on the path of knowin who you are inChrist Jesus and what you have in Him.

    heart of the matter

rowin up in a traditional church,I was tauht that we dress accord-inly to respect the house of god,

You always stayed sharp, especially if youwere sinle because the church is the bestplace to find a partner. I aree with this. ButI wonder: why are there so many sinle

women in the church. As a man of god whodesires to unite with a Christian woman, Idecided to do my own research by interview-in several sinle Christian women.

When you think about women and howthey operate its difficult to understand howthey do the thins they do. Ironically, whilewritin this article the son "Superwoman"by Alicia Keys was one of the sons that

played on my iTunes playlist. I recentlywrote about how men arent Mannin-Upand takin care business which puts thewoman in a position where she has tobecome a "superwoman" to play both rolesas mother and father. Fortunately I wasraised by both of my parents in a ood godlyChristian household. I noticed somethinspecial and unique about how my mother

handled her many roles as a mother, wife, first lady, business owner, counselor, friend, dauhter, sister, teacher, minister and com-munity activist. One can only imaine if shewas a sinle mother tryin to accomplish allof those responsibilities by herself. god hasa special callin for women like my motherwho endure and successfully accomplish

multiple task/roles. A superwoman is whatwe want to call these ladies, but a more suit-able title would be a super god workinthrouh that woman.

When it comes to attendin church, youcan o back as far as you want, but you'llalways see more women than men in thechurch. On the other hand, youre lucky ifyou et men to show up on Sundays, espe-

cially durin the NFL football season. Itsbeen said that the male to female ratio inchurch is one man to every five women.Thats quite a difference and shows the obvi-ous female dominance in the church. Somany households are divided because of thatdifference. If the man doesn't attend church, who then puts the house in order? Thinsthen bein to slowly but surely affect the

household because the man doesn't man up,put god first and set an example for his fam-ily. When asked the question, one youn ladysaid "It miht not even be that some womenare sinle but that theyre datin or marriedto men who don't hold the principle of livinfor god and therefore don't come to churchat all." This is true and aain its a housedivided thats oin to eventually cause some

type of strife or conflict within the relation-ship. god is supposed to be that foundation. The numbers for men in the church are

already scarce, but think about how few sin-le men are in the church. Since there only afew sinle men in the church, the sinlewomen have to make their presence known. The majority of the time the attention seek-

in behaviors are obvious in the woman'sattire. Somethin is definitely wron withthat picture. How do they et the attentionthey desire and still keep their Christianityintact? To answer that question I called upanother woman of god who lives inShreveport, LA. She stated that "Sinlewomen should make themselves available bybein active in church, look ood but not

trashy, be the best sinle woman you can beand do everythin you can do to be ready forwhen your soul mate comes alon. She alsomentioned how Paul said that if you can besinle thats actually a ood thin so you canonly focus on god. Personally I aree withher points and could even apply it into mylife.

Another beautiful sinle sister had this to

say, "I think there is a role reversal amonstmen and women, where men desire to beapproached and women clin to the tradi-tional roles, by wantin to be approached bythe man." Bein raised in the South, whereI was tauht to be a complete entleman, itshard for me to believe that a man wants awoman to approach him and show interest.Men who want to be approached are a new

eneration of men whose eo is enormous.Personally, I have a certain way of showinmy interest in a woman. After I approach herwith my very charmin yet intellectual reet-in, I then try and fiure out whether thiswoman and I could possibly be compatiblewith each other. I then tell her that I wouldlove to et to know her more and for her to

take my number down. Remember, I'mwritin this article from a sinle, 24-year-oldmans perspective. Believe it or not, thisapproach has been successful for me forsome years now as its the perfect balancedapproach. The man shows initial interest, then the two converse with the man tellinthe woman to take his number down so theycan further their likin for one another only if

she feels the same. Lastly, the ball is then putinto the woman's court to make a decisionwhether she wants to actually et to knowthe uy more by textin or callin the uy toconfirm her interest. Simple enouh?

Our datin experience as Christians arelike any other personssometimes success-ful; sometimes not. What I wonder is whydo we do somethin our own way and then

o complainin to Our Heavenly Fatherabout the outcome. Many times god justwants us to be still and know that He is. Itsays in Isaiah 40:31; but they that wait uponthe Lord shall renew their strenth. goodthins come to those who wait, ranted wedo have to implement action but to wait on acalled purpose is key. Coach Tony Dunyonce said says "god called us to be faithful,

not successful but if you remember this you

    heart of the matter

will end up bein both." Our HeavenlyFather calls on us to be faithful and not toput our soul mate before Him. If you remem-ber this, you'll end up with god Almihtyand your desired soul mate.

Luke 12:48 states: To whom much isiven, much is required. After my countlessrelationships over the years and my knowl-ede on the subject, I knew that I was in aposition to help others in their sinle walk. The answers received from my interviewswere on taret, but the answer is within thesubject of this article, seek god first andHe'll provide your SOUL mate second.

Our Heavenly Father is a jealous godand He doesn't wantany man or woman tobe put before Him.Once you remember toput god first, He'llmanifest your dreamsand desires accordinto your faith. Even if

you do meet your soulmate without god, ifyour relationship isn'tbased on god's princi-ples and youre not livin accordinly, yourrelationship will not stand on just physicalattraction alone. Even for those livin in thenatural it takes more than just physicalattraction to keep each other interested. If

your house isn't built with a solid foundationit will eventually crumble. That foundationis god's Word. Once we understand that,we'll bein to see the benefits of rihteous-ness.

Sometimes its hard for us to understandhow can we o after god and end up withour desired soul mate. We as believers have

to do just that "believe" and stand on godsword. Our Heavenly Father knows thedesire of our hearts. He knows we want tobe in love, experience marriae and have alastin bond with our spouse. I love to tell

the story of my own parents and how the twomet while both seekin after god. Both ofmy parents had just otten serious about thethins of god and were still "baby"Christians tryin to find themselves. Mymom actually had a fiancee when they firstmet. At the time, both of my parents werenew members of Crenshaw ChristianCenter in Los Aneles, CA., but met at Rev.

Kenneth Hains Camp Meetin in Tulsa,Oklahoma. Surprisinly the two never metwhile attendin Crenshaw. Throuh amutual friend they were introduced, vowinthat they would stay in contact with eachother when arrivin back in L.A. As timewent by, the two continued to seek after godfirst. He made a way where my mom otreleased from the situation she was in and of

course my dad ran for the opportunity tobefriend her in a more affectionate way. They both stayed committed to the the Lordand eventually ot married a few monthslater. They both souht after god first andthen each other. Our Heavenly Fatherappointed them to meet and ultimately betoether.

As sinle men and women of god, we

have to simply believe god for our mate. Our faith plays a bi part in us findin ourmate. Believe god for the love you desirewith your future spouse. He doesn't justwant a few of his children happily marriedwith a family, livin life abundantly, He

wants that for ALL of His children. EIF

    Once youremember to

    put god first,Hell manifestyour dreams

    and desiresaccordin toyour faith.

    power of faith testimony

t the beinnin of my senior yearin hih school, I had my life allplanned out. I knew exactly

what I wanted to do, and how Iwanted to et there; I wanted to be a physician.Throuh the help of very supportive teachers,

they cheered me on; they spoke life to my life, and interceded on my behalf. I would do fouryears of collee majorin in one of the sciences, take the Medical Collee Admission Test(MCAT) and do four years of medical school then, Ill be done. Aain, this way my plan.

I chose to attend Xavier University ofLouisiana in New Orleans. They ranked veryhih in placin minorities into medical school.I completed my first year at Xavier, andreturned to bein my second year in Auust2005. Just a few days after classes bean,Hurricane Katrina hit. I was stuck in a resi-dence hall, the only safe place on campus. Justoutside of the entrance doors, cars, animals andhumans floated down the paved streets. Thestench of the backed up sewae system quicklybean to make people sick. Some passed awayin the same buildin that I souht refue in.

The top of the ceilin had caved in, the bottomfloor bean to seep water. Our safest place wasbetween the second and fourth floors. The onlyfood we had was that which was stocked upfrom the day prior, and from the vendinmachine that had to be broken into. Bothquickly ran out and the tainted water wasnt safeto drink.

Xavier closed for one semester which left meand the other 3,000 students without a school.

To continue my education without breaks orlosin credits, I was temporarily accepted intothe University of California, Los Aneles. I

completed the fall quarter of my sophomoreyear there. Because this was just on a tempo-rary basis, I had to find another institution topermanently attend. Because I lost everythinin Hurricane Katrina, I decided not to return to

Xavier. I applied and was accepted into theUniversity of Southern California, where Ireceived my deree in 2008.

Just prior to attendin my first week of class-

es as a transfer student at USC, my father unex-pectedly passed away. I left the memorial serv-ice early so I could attend my first class at USC.

That semester, my rades were subpar. Durinmy junior year at USC, I applied to 15 medicalschools. I was rejected from all of them. Myrade point averae fell too low durin mysophomore year to be considered competitive.I decided not to ive up. I applied to theUniversity of California, Davis as a raduatestudent where I focused on all sciences to helpboost my gPA. In just a year, my mission wascomplete. I re-applied to medical school and

was accepted to the University of Utah Schoolof Medicine.

On July 19, 2010, I was sworn in as an officerin the United States Army. I knew I wanted toserve my country in a capacity where I would beable to utilize my rowin expertise in the med-

ical field. Within the army, I found my niche, theArmy Medical Department (AMEDD).

AMEDD is responsible for healthcarereadiness of U.S. soldiers on both U.S. soil andon forein territory. As a medical student, myobliations in the Army were restricted and lim-itedas I had to successfully pass medicalschool so I could proceed as an Army Physicianafter raduation.

To my surprise, just two weeks into my 3rdyear of medical school, I received orders fromthe U.S. Army to complete mandatory traininin a course called the Basic Officer LeadershipCourse (BOLC) at Fort Sam Houston in San

Antonio, TX. This course prepares officerswithin AMEDD on how to treat soldiers whohave been injured durin times of war, both the

physical and mental, and howto be effective leaders in thefield. The course spans about amonth, and within this monthis non-stop trainin.

As a medical student, I was

used to stayin up late atnihts, and wakin up early inthe mornin. I wasnt howeverexpectin to wake up at 4:00a.m. for strenuous physicaltrainin. I didnt quitever.Cadre (the militarys teachinstaff) would tell you if you quitnow, you will quit on that sol-

dier who needs you the most.Riht after physical traininwas over, you had 30 minutesto chane into full uniform andbe ready to start your work day at 6:00 a.m.

Reardless of your profession within themedical department, all soldiers must meet min-imum qualificationsfrom administrative assis-tants to the pilots. We all had to qualify on M16rifles and 9mm handuns. In the U.S. Army,

you are a soldier first before your profession. If athreat comes to you or your comrade, you mustbe able to defend yourself. At 105 derees, in fullbattle fatiue (which adds 10 derees to the tem-perature); we often spent hours shootin at mul-tiple tarets: prone, on one knee, and evenunsupported only relyin on our shoulder tokeep the weapon in our control. You must beable to eliminate a taret with penetration to the

abdomen. Throuh quite a bit of sweat, tears, and frustration I shook it off and remindedmyself that I can do all thins throuh Christ

who strenthens me. Needless to say, I endedup passin with flyin colors.

Towards the end of trainin, there was anobstacle course we all had to complete. There

were 16 courses total, which had to be done injust a few hours. I balanced myself on a movin

balance beam, climbed countless of obstacleswithout the support of a harness, jumped overwalls, climbed ropes almost 100 feet in the air, crawled as low to the round as possible asmetal bars directly over your head wouldpainfully remind you that you were too hih, andthe list oes on. The physical demands weretouh, but I succeeded.

Two weeks prior to conclud-in my service of trainin, I wascontacted by a superior officer,

who informed me that I would beplatoon sereant the followin

week. Our platoon is made up of

70 soldiers. Platoon sereant isresponsible for executin orderstaken from superiors. So not only

was this my first formal introduc-tion into AMEDD, but now I amsolely in chare of 70 other peo-ple; some whom outrank me.

They follow my command, anddo not do anythin until they hear

from me. This is a lot of power;more than I would ever imainehavin. Aain, fear and doubt ofbein an effective leader reared its

uly head. At the conclusion of my first day asplatoon sereant, I asked the Holy Spirit to iveme the wisdom, knowlede, and understandinto be effective. At the conclusion of my leader-ship, all platoon sereants had a one-on-onemeetin with a superior officer and cadre to pro-

vide constructive criticism on how we main-tained our platoon. The only comment in myfile: LT Hawkins proved to be an effective andefficient leader of all of his subordinates. He is tobe applauded. He conducted himself with reatpoise, and has met and exceeded all leadershipresponsibilities iven to him.

Auust 28, 2012 was raduation day. Ireceived two certificates: One from the Sureon

general of the United States officially welcom-in me to the medical department reiment, andthe other from the Army Medical DepartmentCenter and Schools sayin I qualified with alltrainin. Throuh the trials, tribulations, set-backs, obstacles and fear, I stood on gods

Word to push me throuh. As Apostle Priceoften quotes from James 2:17, faith by itself, if itdoes not have works, is dead. It took a whole lot

of me just doin, as a step of faith, durin thispast month. I knew the devil would come, but Ialso knew that I was prepared to take him headon. I was relieved from my military duty success-fully passin everythin, and now Im back to myclinical rotations in medical school. To god bethe glory! EIF

lot of people have a tendency tothink that just because somethin isBIg that this means that it is

healthy. But, that can be a wron dianosis.Just because someone is bi in body sie doesnot necessarily mean that he or she is healthy. And just because such a one may et bier

and bier is no indication of ood health orood health practices.

In the same way, there are churches thatare bi in sie with a lot of people. And, aainmany would think that the church is doinfine just because it is bi. But, they are notactually dealin with whether the church ishealthy or not healthy in the sense that theleadership and Helps Ministry workers who

are visible before the people are livin livesabove reproach. And, it is the duty of theleadership to inspire and encourae the con-reation to truly worship god in spirit andin truth.

John 4:23 says:But the hour is comin, and now is, when

the true worshipers will worship the Fatherin spirit and truth; for the Father is seekinsuch to worship Him.

One of the primary ways of worshippingod is throuh music. All churches havesome form of music as a way for the people tojoin toether in roup praise and worship.

All bi churches have at least one majorchoir. At Crenshaw Christian Center(CCC) we have several music ensembles, and several lare choirs. Each and everymember of each and every auxiliary roup isrequired to be a part of Helps Ministry andcomplete an application. They are alsorequired to o throuh a morals interview, inwhich they are asked about their personal liv-

in standards and lifestyle. If there is a prob-lem, such as an immoral lifestyle (sex outsideof marriae, for example), such applicants arenot permitted to participate in any HelpsMinistry auxiliary includin the MusicDepartment until the problem has been cor-rected for one full year.

It is my belief that anyone representinJesus should live a life above reproach. And,all Helps Ministry workers (includin choirmembers) are considered in leadership posi-tions -- representin this local church and theLord. Unfortunately, we have heard of toomany situations involvin members of choirs

in sex-related scandals in some of the mostprominent ministries. In many cases, suchchurch members are allowed to stand beforethe conreation, as if sinless and withoutretribution. What an insult to the Lord.

Music is an important part of churchservices, particularly for praise and worshipand in preparation for receivin the Word. But, too many people tend to et too carried

away emotionally with certain music, partic-ularly with what is called ospel music. Suchmusic actually anestheties the people sothey can feel ood soulishly. But they areusually very, very lean spiritually.Developin ones spirit is far more importantthan feedin ones soul. That is why godtold me to teach rather than preach, and

not to televise thechoir on our EverIncreasin FaithMinistries televi-sion proram. Itis the applicationof the Word that

sets Christiansfree, and not thatsweet pill of emo-

tion most Christians receive on Sundays, worked up and spurred on by a soulish choir.

I am all for music in the Church, becauseI know it can be an addendum to what theSpirit of god would want to do in a churchservice. When done for the purpose of exalt-

in our Heavenly Father, it can also jumpstart, as well as enhance the anointin.

We are blessed at CCC to have a won-derful Music Department and MusicDirector, who makes sure that the musicministry lines up with the Word of god incontent and in spirit. EIF

have spoken many times about howwe need to be doers of the Word of godso that when we face our reatest chal-

lenes, all the discipline and trainin that wentinto our becomin doers of the Word will workon our behalf. But if we do not develop thatdiscipline or build ourselves up on our mostholy faith with all the little tests that we othrouh every day, how will we have enouh

faith to stand when bier challenes arise. Wewont! What is just as important as buildin up

our faith is maintainin it after we have faced amajor attack from the devil. Too many peoplethink that once god has helped them with-stand such an attack, they can relax becausethey have won the battle. But the devil is still

walkin about like a roarin lion, seekinwhom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). If we dontremain viilant and continue walkin by faith,

Satan will find some way to take advantae ofour laxity so he can devour us.When I was dianosed with inoperable

lymphoma back in 1990, I had to underomajor surery just so the doctors could dia-nose the condition. The results of that biopsyon the tumor found in my pelvic area was the

worst news you could receive in your life. Manypeople receivin thesame news wouldprobably ive up ando home to die! Butbecause of the

Word, I had built upin me, and because Iave that Wordprecedence over allthe circumstancesconcernin my

health, god was able to work throuh the doc-tors to manifest my healin. Still, if I hadntcontinued ivin the Word first place in my lifeby confessin and actin on it, and if I hadntchaned some thins in the natural to take careof my body, I miht not be enjoyin my divinehealth today.

To maintain my health in the spirit realm,I continue to confess every day that god

restores health to me and heals me of all mywounds (Jeremiah 30:17). I continue to say thatwhatever thins I ask when I pray, I believethat I receive them, and I shall have them(Mark 11:24). I declare daily that every cell inmy body is normal and that every oran is func-tionin properly. And I continue to praise andthank the Lord for it all. Another Scripture Iconfess is Psalm 103, the first five verses of

    which read:

    1 Bless the LORD, O my soul;

And all that is within me, bless His holy name!

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,

    Who heals all your diseases,

4 Who redeems your life from destruction,Who crowns you with lovingkindness and

    tender mercies,

5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, Sothat your youth is renewed like the eagles.

Still another Scripture I use is Psalm 107.Verse 20 reads, He sent His Word and healedthem, and delivered them from their destruc-tions. First Peter 2:24 says: who Himself boreour sins in His own body on the tree, that we,havin died to sins, miht live for rihteous-

nessby whose stripes you were healed. These are wonderful verses to confess, not justwhen you are sick but all the time so you cankeep your spiritual immune system built up.

There are also some physical thins weshould do alon with confessin and livin bygods Word. We have this treasure in earthen

vessels (2 Corinthians 4:7); we are the temple ofthe Holy Spirit who is in us, and we are not ourown (1 Corinthians 6:19). Im sure none of us

would want to live in a run-down house, with aleaky roof and the plumbin stopped up. So

why should we expect the Holy Spirit to do so,especially since our bodies are gods property, not ours?

One of the thins we need to do to keepour temples in ood shape is exercise. Paul

writes in 1 Timothy 4:8, For bodily exerciseprofits a little but as my husband has said on

several occasions, we need to take advantae ofthe little profit that it ives us. Althouh I dontlike to exercise, I like the results that come fromexercisin, such as feelin better, improvedmuscle tone, stayin healthier and sleepinmore soundly at niht. For this reason, I pur-pose to do the exercise because I want to live alon and healthy life.

I exercise three times a week. After

stretchin (and you always should do somestretchin exercises before you work out so youdont hurt yourself by pullin any muscles), I do175 sit-up crunches, 50 side kicks and 50 backkicks for each le, and a total of 90 arm raises

with five-pound weihts. Some people likeoin to the ym or the fitness club becausethere they can use weiht machines, exercise

bikes and thins like that. Others, like myself, are more comfortable exercisin at home. Nomatter what you do, thouh, you should con-sult a doctor before startin an exercise pro-ram so he can help you decide what is best for

you and what thins you may need to avoiddoin.

Alon with exercisin, you have to watchwhat you eat. This is where I have made themost chanes. Before the cancer attack, I sel-dom ate live fruits and veetables. Now I makesure to do so every dayfruit in the mornin, asalad at lunch and veetables with my meal atniht. I also used to drink nine cups of coffee a

day and I would not drink water because I didnot like the taste of water. But we all need todrink water so we can flush the toxins out ofour system. If we dont, those toxins can buildup and cause all sorts of problems later on inlife. Now I have only two cups of coffee a day

and drink plenty ofwater every day.

    Not lon ao, I

went to the doctor for aminor ailment. Upon athorouh examinationthe doctor said that I

was in the best of healthand that everythinlooked normal. Praise

god that He says that with lon life He willsatisfy me (Psalm 91:16), and that He alwayshonors His Word for those who will stand onit. I also thank god for brinin people intomy path who encouraed me to take better careof my body. god definitely has a part to play inour health, but our part in keepin our templehealthy is just as important.

I would encourae you to do the same asI did. Learn to confess and walk in line withthe Word every day; let it become health to

your flesh and strenth to your bones (Proverbs

3:8). But while you do this, also learn what youneed to do in the natural realm to keep yourbody in the best shape possible. I cannotencourae you enouh to be dilient about allthese thins, so that god may be lorifiedthrouh you. Then you will maintain and enjoya lon healthy life, as He promised every one ofHis children. EIF

he Holy Spirit is a divine person,

the third person of the godhead. You will never understand the

Holy Spirit if you think of Him simply as aforce, or a wind, as some reliious roupsdo. Like god the Father, He is a Spirit, and He has a distinct personality.

The godhead functions like a corpo-ration. god the Father is the presidentand chief executive officer. Jesus is the

executive vice president and director ofoperations. The Holy Spirit is the fieldrepresentative riht here on earth. Allthree are god, but all have different func-tions.

There are many verses of Scripturethat show us that the Holy Spirit is a per-

son. For example, Paul says in Romans8:27:

Now He who searches the heartsknows what the mind of the Spirit is,because He makes intercession for thesaints accordin to the will of god.

Notice that the word Spirit is capital-ized as it should be because it is refer-rin to the Holy Spirit and not mans spir-it. The phrase, the mind of the Spirit, indi-cates that the Holy Spirit has a mind. Ifthe Spirit has a mind, it presupposes thatHe also has a will. Paul adds in 1Corinthians 12:11:

But one and the same Spirit works allthese thins, distributin to each one indi-

    vidually as He wills.

So we see that the Holy Spirit notonly has a mind but also a will. Isaiah 63:10

indicates that the Holy Spirit has feelinsand can be rieved:

    But they [the children of Israel]rebelled and rieved His Holy Spirit;

so He turned Himself aainst them asan enemy, and He fouht aainst them.

You cannot experience rief if you do

not have a personality. So the Holy Spirithas a mind, a will, and emotions, just as wedo. But we must not stop here. We willalso find that the Holy Spirit strives, helps, teaches, testifies, uides, convicts, com-forts, sanctifies, witnesses, reveals, andcommands, as well as performs other func-tions.

    STRIVE Genesis 6:3

And the Lord said, My Spirit shallnot strive with man forever, for he isindeed flesh

One of the rea-sons the HolySpirit is in the earthrealm is to makethose who areunsaved aware oftheir estranementand separationfrom god. He

    wants them toknow that god

loves them and thatthey have been rec-onciled to Himthrouh JesusChrist. So the statement, strive with man, does not mean that we are enaed in anytype of competition with the Holy Spirit.

That would be a contest we could neverwin. But the Holy Spirit places a convic-tion in the hearts of men so that they willseek god and eventually accept Jesus as

    their personal Savior and Lord.

    HELPER, TEACHER John 14:26

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name,He will teach you all thins, and brin to

your remembrance all thins that I said to

    you.

We asChristians have adivine Helper inthe person of theHoly Spirit. Heteaches us andreveals to us the

thins of god, supportin thosein the Body ofChrist in innumer-able ways.

Space doesnot permit me to discuss all of the HolySpirits divine personality traits or quali-ties, such as bein our uide (John 16:13),comforter (Acts 9:31), sanctifier (Romans15:16), witness (Romans 8:16), commands, forbids (Acts 16:6-7), everlastin(Hebrews 9:14), omnipresent (Psalm139:7-10), omniscient (1 Corinthians 2:10),doin divine works (genesis 1:1-3), theability to raise the dead (Romans 8:11), andso forth.

All these and more are qualities of theHoly Spirit that we as Christians can tapinto by receivin the ift of the Holy Spirit

Unless otherwise indicated, Scripture quo-tations mentioned above are taken fromthe New King James Version of the Bible.

Do you have a question on your mind?

Write to us at: Ever Increasing Faith Magazine,P.O. Box 44185, Los Angeles, CA 90009 ore-mail [email protected].

Can the Holy Spirit reveal something new to you via the gifts ofthe Spirit, and it not bear witness with your spirit?

A Yes, absolutely. The reason what the HolySpirit reveals may not bear witness with yourspirit is that you may not be listenin to Him.Many times, the Holy Spirit will say somethin, and we will not pay attention to what He istellin us. A perfect example of this is when aperson ets divorced after bein married only ashort time. The Holy Spirit told that person notto marry the person he or she married, but theindividual did it anyway. Many times, the per-son thouht, "We've already made weddinplans, and it would be an embarrassment to can-cel out now," or "We knew it, but we'd already

spent all of this money on the weddin." I toldmy dauhters when they were plannin their

weddins not to worry about the money, thatriht up to the time I said, "Do you take thisman," they could say, "No, daddy, I think I'vechaned my mind," and it would be fine with

me. I wanted their happiness more than I want-ed the money. After all, god supplies all myneeds, so I can be blessed with more money.

That is why the Holy Spirit tries to warn us not to keep us from doin somethin, but to tellus that what we want to do may be a bi mis-take.

    parenting matters

rayin for ourchildren is thedaily task ofparents, rand-

parents, odparents, foster parents, andeveryone who loves chil-dren. One way to prayeffectively is to pray the Scriptures. Sincegod has a desin and a plan for our chil-drens lives, we should search His Wordand allow the Spirit to lead us to those pas-saes that relate to the needs of our chil-

dren. As we confess these over our chil-dren, we relentlessly trust god to performHis Word in their lives.

As we pray, lets not foret to prayabout other peoples children, too. Pray forthe children in your church, pray for thechildren on your block, and in your com-munity. Pray! Pray! Pray!

In addition to prayin for our children,

parents also have the biblical responsibilityto pray with their children. Prayin withchildren helps us hear their concerns. Weencourae them to take their needs to

god, and then we trustgod to meet those needs.

In turn, children learnto pray because they have

heard their parents pray. Here is one heartwarminexample.

My mom tauht me how topray and how to trust god,NancyKwon told me. Her mother had been

raised in Korea as a Buddhist, and she was

an ardent believer in Buddha until the

niht she went to her Christian friends

home for dinner. This friends family had

no food, but they all sat around the table

and said race. After they thanked god for

the food that He was oin to ive them,

they waited. My mother watched in amazement

and thouht that they were a little out of

their minds. But after a few minutes, therewas a knock at the door. A neihbor wasstandin there with food she wanted toshare with the family. My mother acceptedJesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Over the years, I learned how to praybecause I heard my mother pray, saysNancy. She had been married to my dadfor 11 years, and she prayed for his salvationevery day. She never complained about herhusband to her parents. She told every-

    thin to god.

My three sis-ters and Iwould hearher pray out loud. She believed Romans 10:11,

Anyone who trusts in [god] will never beput to shame. Today my father is a pastor.

When we teach our children to pray,we encourae them to trust god for them-

selves. Children have needs at all aes, sowhen presented with a Mommy, Ineed., why not add it to the childsprayer list? If parents pray simple, one-sen-tence prayers, children will learn that pray-in is easy. Father, I thank you for findinthe riht parkin space. When godanswers, celebrate Him! give god thelory.

Pray for healin, pray about purchas-in a do, pray for a window in heavytraffic, pray about buyin the riht pair ofshoes, pray for the scraped knee to behealed, pray about what church to join, pray for the teacher and the coach, pray forthe riht friends, pray about what ift tobuy, pray when somethin is lostpray, pray, pray!

As children learn to pray and seeanswers to their prayers, god becomeseven more real to them. This exampleunderscores the importance of prayinaudible prayers prayers your children canhear:

    Shelly was exhausted.

Between teachin part time andparentin two children full time, she seemed always to be runnin to catch

up with her schedule, despite a helpful and

fully enaed husband. Once at home withher dauhter, she breathed deeply, ready

for a half hour of calm before it was time to

pick up her son, Ryan.Mom, can we o to the park? Two-

year-old Brittany was tuin at herresolve. Shelly looked at her child and atthe bouncy blonde curls framin blushedcherub cheeks. Its not very windy today.

Shelly offered this explanation, fully under-standin the why behind this request:Brittany had a brand new kite, and she

wanted to see it fly. Please, Mommy!Brittanys plea was loud enouh for a lis-tenin mother to hear. Kissin her half-hour rest ood-bye, Shelly swooped upBrittany and the kite and headed rihtback out the door, into the car, and off tothe park.

There really wasnt enouh wind, butthe anticipation in Brittanys eyes wasenouh to warm the heart of god. Shellydesperately prayed aloud, god, pleasesend the wind! The breeze came fromnowhere, picked up the kite, and off theyran for a few lauh-filled minutes. It was

an eternity for Brittany, but ultimately itwas not flyin the kite that held her in awe.She had heard her mother pray, and hadseen god answer.

god sent the wind! Brittany said asshe wiled back into her car seat. Thank

    you, Mommy!EIF
