    One country I have been fascinated with for a while, and recently have become really fascinated with, is Egypt. I am mostly

    fascinated by the Egyptians themselves. They are a very colorful, intriguing people. Ive run into some Egyptians here and there in

    northern Virginia area, but havent really known any longterm. I met one man, and later two ladies as they checked out at my register

    at !hoppers "ood #arehouse in $%%&. #ay back in '( I met this heavyset, fiftysomething guy at !outh )un indoor pool. The

    longest Ive known, was this skinny athletic kid named *ansur, who I met during a summer program at +ake raddock. There were acouple of kids I went to school with who were halfEgyptian- dam hmed, whose dad is Egyptian and his mom, white merican-

    and my !haraf who I think was the same thing. /ow, recently there are two darkskinned Egyptians at V01. One guy is 2'$2

    years old, and his name is Islam 3alouda. The other guy is hmed 4agag, I think he would be in his late 5%s or even early 6%s. Oh,there was the calculus teacher at /OV in summer $%%&, 7rofessor 3hadiga 8amgoum. !he wore the full headscarf and garb. !hes

    a great teacher. 0urrently, in the summer of $%2%, my accounting systems professor is from Egypt as well. !he is *rs. 9ina El

    edouins: edouins are desert dwellers. They have traditionally lived in tents, and led a nomadic way of

    liveCwhich many still do, by riding camels. !peaking of camels, I would love to ride one. I first saw real live

    camels in a truck when we were on a road trip. nyways, back to the main topic. I read that many of the

    bedouin now live in houses and use trucks for transportationCnot sure if they actually drive those trucks or Gustget rides in them

    large number of edouin are natives of Egypt, and others are actually recently from !audi rabia and the

    rabian peninsula. I guarantee you this man here is from there.

    Nubians:/ubians are the people of !outhern EgyptCfrom swan down, and parts of /orthern !udan. They look distinct from most

    other Egyptians, and speak their own /ubian dialects along with rabic. #e know about the various dealings of /ubians and

    mainstream Egyptians during ancient times. Egypt ruled /ubia for 2%%% yearsC$%%% 0 to 2%%% 0. ut the /ubians fought againstEgypt, and gained the upper hand, and /ubian 7haraohs ruled Egypt for a 2%% years C@%% to (%% 0. /ubians were very helpful in

    *ubarakCwho had been in power 5% years. They staged many protestsCmostly around the northern cities of

    0airo and leDandria. Even though it was mainly a relatively peaceful protest, there was still absolutecraNiness along with it. There were violent clashes between protesters and police;security forces. wellknown

    reporter even got viciously attacked while filming. *ubarak finally gave up power. It may be best to read

    There is a man named Aehya living in the +os ngeles area who has a very very thick Egyptian accent who
