International Ashley Chesters endedEngland's nine-year wait when he won theEuropean men’s amateurchampionship in Spain.The 23 year old from Hawkstone Park in
Shropshire joins an illustrious list of winners
which includes Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia.
He took the lead after shooting 65 in the
second round and finished the event a shot
ahead of David Morago and two clear of
Scott Fernández, both from Spain.
Chesters, who was capped against France last
year and has enjoyed several top ten finishes
this year, is the first English player to win the
European title since Matthew Richardsontriumphed in Sweden in 2004.

Take a bow MATT FITZPATRICK– the US AmateurChampion and the world number one amateur for 2013.
CALLUM SHINKWIN is the 2013 English champion. He secured
the title in the rain at Frilford Heath when he wrapped up a
4/3 victory over Yorkshire’s Matt Fitzpatrick in the 36-hole final.
He is thought to be the first Hertfordshire golfer to win this prestigious title sinceNick Faldo in 1975. “This win means a lot because it means my name is therealongside some famous ones,” said Shinkwin.
Shinkwin laid the foundation for his victory in the morning when he went round in68, four under par, and was 3-up at lunch.

match.
Both fixtures were played at Heswall,

of England U16 stroke play championship.

been appointed as the Lead Coach for the England Men’s A Squad.

Mark wins goldA birdie-three on the 17th hole providedthe key to victory for Mark Willis in theclosest finish in the history of the Fuller’s London Pride Gold Medal.
Willis, 34, from the Kendleshire club in Bristol,was tied with playing partner, Aiden Tanner, 16,from Costessey Park in Norfolk, after 36 holeson the Hotchkin course at Woodhall Spa.
The title was decided on card countback onthe second round: both scored 15 points on theback nine, both recorded ten over the back six,but Willis’ birdie at 17 helped give him eightpoints over the back three compared toTanner’s seven.

ten-man GB&I Walker Cup team for next
month’s match against the USA.
Newly-crowned US Amateur championMatthew Fitzpatrick (Hallamshire), Amateurchampion Garrick Porteous (Bamburgh Castle)and English champion Callum Shinkwin (MoorPark) will be joined by Nathan Kimsey(Woodhall Spa), Max Orrin (North Foreland),Neil Raymond (Corhampton) and Jordan Smith(Bowood). The line-up will be completed byGavin Moynihan and Kevin Phelan from Irelandand Welshman Rhys Pugh.
The two reserves also come from England: Greg Eason (Kirby Muxloe) and Ryan Evans(Wellingborough).
The team will defend the trophy at the NationalGolf Links of America in Southampton, NewYork, on 7th and 8th September.

The 18-year-old from Hallamshire in Yorkshire became the firstEnglishman since 1911 to win the US Amateur when he triumphed by 4/3in the 36-hole final at the Country Club, Brookline. His victory secured hisplace in next year’s Open Championship at Royal Liverpool, the US Openat Pinehurst and he will receive an invitation to play in The Masters.
Three days later he was acclaimed as the winner of the Mark H McCormack Medalhaving topped the men’s World Amateur Golf Ranking for 2013.
Fitzpatrick said: “For this to come along at the same time as winning the USAmateur Championship is really special. I had a fair idea that if I had a good finish I might be able to scrape it but it was great that it went my way. It has been anamazing few weeks for me ever since The Open and I am really happy to haveachieved so much.”
Fitzpatrick won the silver medal as the leading amateur at The Open at Muirfieldand went on to finish as runner-up in the English amateur championship.

After a fierce battle in the morning foursomes which finished level,England won six of the afternoon singles and halved another tocomplete a 9-6 victory and a clean sweep of the other countries.Ireland were runners-up.
“This is an amazing and wonderful feeling,” said England captainTerry Casey. “It was an extraordinary performance by my team andhaving lost last year this is special.
“The players were fantastic and I have run out of superlatives todescribe them. We beat three really strong sides here but I alwaysfelt we had a real chance this week.”

Europe’s premier U16 championship since it started in 1995.They achieved it with a magnificent team total of 12-under par at Hamburg,Germany - and a six shot win over Spain. Bradley Moore (Kedleston Park) put theEngland seal on the event when he also won the boys’ individual championship.

They are the first England quartet to win the team event at
Europe’s premier U16 championship since it started in 1995.They achieved it with a magnificent team total of 12-under par at Hamburg,Germany - and a six shot win over Spain. Bradley Moore (Kedleston Park) put theEngland seal on the event when he also won the boys’ individual championship.
Marco Penge (Worthing) is the English U16 boys’ champion, while Alice(Berkhamsted), is the Scottish U16 champion, and Sophie (West Essex) was jointrunner-up at the Irish U18 open championship.

Reid Trophy goes overseasFor the second successive year, the English boys’ U14 championship has goneto a foreign player after Antoine Kuoch captured the Reid Trophy in thesunshine of North Hants Golf Club.

International Ashley Chesters endedEngland's nine-year wait when he won theEuropean men’s amateurchampionship in Spain.The 23 year old from Hawkstone Park in
Shropshire joins an illustrious list of winners
which includes Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia.
He took the lead after shooting 65 in the
second round and finished the event a shot
ahead of David Morago and two clear of
Scott Fernández, both from Spain.
Chesters, who was capped against France last
year and has enjoyed several top ten finishes
this year, is the first English player to win the
European title since Matthew Richardsontriumphed in Sweden in 2004.

Take a bow MATT FITZPATRICK– the US AmateurChampion and the world number one amateur for 2013.
CALLUM SHINKWIN is the 2013 English champion. He secured
the title in the rain at Frilford Heath when he wrapped up a
4/3 victory over Yorkshire’s Matt Fitzpatrick in the 36-hole final.
He is thought to be the first Hertfordshire golfer to win this prestigious title sinceNick Faldo in 1975. “This win means a lot because it means my name is therealongside some famous ones,” said Shinkwin.
Shinkwin laid the foundation for his victory in the morning when he went round in68, four under par, and was 3-up at lunch.

Mark wins goldA birdie-three on the 17th hole providedthe key to victory for Mark Willis in theclosest finish in the history of the Fuller’s London Pride Gold Medal.
Willis, 34, from the Kendleshire club in Bristol,was tied with playing partner, Aiden Tanner, 16,from Costessey Park in Norfolk, after 36 holeson the Hotchkin course at Woodhall Spa.
The title was decided on card countback onthe second round: both scored 15 points on theback nine, both recorded ten over the back six,but Willis’ birdie at 17 helped give him eightpoints over the back three compared toTanner’s seven.

England’ssuper sevenThere are seven England players in the
ten-man GB&I Walker Cup team for next
month’s match against the USA.
Newly-crowned US Amateur championMatthew Fitzpatrick (Hallamshire), Amateurchampion Garrick Porteous (Bamburgh Castle)and English champion Callum Shinkwin (MoorPark) will be joined by Nathan Kimsey(Woodhall Spa), Max Orrin (North Foreland),Neil Raymond (Corhampton) and Jordan Smith(Bowood). The line-up will be completed byGavin Moynihan and Kevin Phelan from Irelandand Welshman Rhys Pugh.
The two reserves also come from England: Greg Eason (Kirby Muxloe) and Ryan Evans(Wellingborough).
The team will defend the trophy at the NationalGolf Links of America in Southampton, NewYork, on 7th and 8th September.

The 18-year-old from Hallamshire in Yorkshire became the firstEnglishman since 1911 to win the US Amateur when he triumphed by 4/3in the 36-hole final at the Country Club, Brookline. His victory secured hisplace in next year’s Open Championship at Royal Liverpool, the US Openat Pinehurst and he will receive an invitation to play in The Masters.
Three days later he was acclaimed as the winner of the Mark H McCormack Medalhaving topped the men’s World Amateur Golf Ranking for 2013.
Fitzpatrick said: “For this to come along at the same time as winning the USAmateur Championship is really special. I had a fair idea that if I had a good finish I might be able to scrape it but it was great that it went my way. It has been anamazing few weeks for me ever since The Open and I am really happy to haveachieved so much.”
Fitzpatrick won the silver medal as the leading amateur at The Open at Muirfieldand went on to finish as runner-up in the English amateur championship.

CHAMPIONSagain!England are Home Internationalchampions once again.They won the Home Internationals, supported by Fairstone FinancialManagement, after beating old rivals Scotland on the final day atGanton.
After a fierce battle in the morning foursomes which finished level,England won six of the afternoon singles and halved another tocomplete a 9-6 victory and a clean sweep of the other countries.Ireland were runners-up.
“This is an amazing and wonderful feeling,” said England captainTerry Casey. “It was an extraordinary performance by my team andhaving lost last year this is special.
“The players were fantastic and I have run out of superlatives todescribe them. We beat three really strong sides here but I alwaysfelt we had a real chance this week.”
