Analysis of Thai-English Translation (15 points)

Instruction: Work in groups of 3 to 4 members; do not include more than 4

members in a group. Read the given abstract of the Thai novel ส่ี

แผน่ดิน (Si Phaen Din) by Kukrit Pramoj (1954) and the corresponding

English translation by Marcel Barang (2009). Then, compare types of

sentences (simple, compound, complex and multi-structured) used

in the source Thai text and the translated English text. Write a one-

page report in Thai and prepare an oral presentation in English. You

may print out the evaluation form for the one-page written report in

Thai and for the oral presentation in English from WU eLearning at the

course title EFL60-343 Thai-English Translation. Fill in the

information about the group members on the evaluation form and

present it together with your written report in Thai to the instructor

before your schedule oral presentation.
