INFORMATION:
Out of order / out of service
We use out of order or out of service for a machine
that is not working.
INFORMATION:
No Vacancy
No Vacancy on a hotel, motel or B & B sign means it
is full. The plural is vacancies.
INFORMATION:
Sold Out
Sold out means there is no more of the product or
that the tickets have all been sold.
DO THIS!
Keep off the grass. Stay off the grass.
Keep off the grass means Don’t walk on the grass.Keep can mean the same as stay.
DO THIS!
Keep right. Keep left.
Keep right means stay on the right side. You see it on
road signs or at airports.
DO THIS!
Fasten your seat belt.
Fasten your seatbelt means to put the two parts
together.
DO THIS!
Wait to be seated.
If the sign says Please wait to be seated, you wait until
someone shows you to your seat or table.
DO THIS!

Pick up order here.
To order something means to ask for something, usually
food or drink. Your order is the food or drink you have
asked for.
DON’T DO THIS!
Do not disturb.
Do not disturb means don’t go into the room or talk
too loudly.
DON’T DO THIS!
Don’t feed the animals.
This means don’t give the animals any food.
DON’T DO THIS!
Do not enter. No entry.
Do not enter means don’t go into that place, usually a
street. No entry means you are not allowed to go there.
DON’T DO THIS!
No parking
No parking means you are not allowed to park in that
place.
BE CAREFUL!
Danger!
Danger means that something bad could happen and
you need to be careful. Keep out means do not enter.
BE CAREFUL!
Mind the step
To mind something means that you need to be careful
about it.
Mind the step means you might fall if you aren’t careful.
BE CAREFUL!
Mind the gap
A gap is the space between two things.
BE CAREFUL!
Mind your head
Mind your head means the space above your head may
be low and you could hurt yourself.
