HIGH SPECIFICATION BUILDINGING’s offices are based at the Opera Center in Bucharest, which comprises a total of approximately 11,500m2 of modern office space spread over eight floors. Constructed in 1999 as a premier standard building A+, the Opera Center provides a high spec-ification throughout, including a four-pipe HVAC system and suspended ceiling with 500 Lux lighting.

However, in an era of record-high energy prices, ING wanted to get proactive about reducing its electricity consumption.

The space currently occupied by ING in the building is 3600m2, around 30% of the total available, spread over three floors.

A wireless energy management system - Efika Mobile - from DC Wire Elektro is helping ING Insurance save thousands of Euros every year in energy costs at its Romanian headquarters in Bucharest.

The project, which saw the implementation of 18 wireless Controller, I/O modules with NiagaraAX interface and three JACE controllers, is expected to deliver an im-pressively rapid return on investment of just two years.

THE SITUATIONAn ef f iciency study performed in 2012 showed that electricity consumption per square metre was 191.8 Wh per year.

THE OPER A CENTRE BUILDING IS SUPPLIED WITH THE FOLLOWING: 1,600 kWh incoming mains line (from 20 to 0.4 kV) Two chiller units Four air handling units, each of fering 90,000m3/hr capacity 38 self-standing fan-coils per f loor – for cool/hot air distribution

with a 0.8 kWh electrical engine and thermostat.

THERE ARE ALSO 1,640 LIGHTING FIX TURES OF DIFFERENT WAT TAGE,SPLIT AS FOLLOWING:860 recessed (4 × 18W) consuming in real terms approximately 92 Wh;and 282 recessed (2 × 18W) with PLC lamps consuming 42 Wh in real terms.The remaining 498 f ixtures are various types of 1 × 58W T8, or 3 × 36W,or 2 × 36W.

THE WAY FORWARDING commissioned DC Wire Elektro to design and implement a complete monitoring and metering control solution based on wireless technology. DC Wire Elektro has for many years used wireless products as key components in the delivery of its services.

INSTALLED IN DECEMBER 2013, THE SYSTEM CONTROLS EQUIPMENT THAT INCLUDES: Ventilation (92 fan coils) Lights (on all f loors) by schedule and occupancy Wall-sockets – by schedule for auxiliary consumers (water dispensers, cof fee machines, small boilers, printers, copiers)

The solution monitors the consumption of electrical energy at f loor level, of fering an insight into loading curve, prof ile and energy quantity. In this respect, several wireless controllers units have been deployed to control the light circuits.

The system was proposed for the following reasons:

For applications which require complex control, and/or the integration of multiple networks, such as BACnet, LON-works, KNX, SNMP and others, DC Wire Elektro of fers JACE as an alternative site manager. There is an interface node and associated driver which enables various I/O modules and sensors to communicate with NiagaraAX running on the JACE platform. The JACE of fers multiple connectivity options for maximum flexibility and includes an integrat-ed web-server to support customisable graphics visualis-ation.

Other hardware deployed at ING included 12 contactors to switch the fan-coils circuits on and of f ; three Modbus I/O modules; and around 90 PIR motion sensors, which were installed in open spaces as well as in meeting rooms, indi-vidual of f ices, and toilets.

DC Wire Elektro provides a wireless solution and therefore ideally suited for a retrof it project such as ING’s of f ices in Bucharest. No wires meant no hassle and no lost working hours. It was estimat-ed that an equivalent hard-wired solution would have taken around three weeks to install using the same number of personnel.

The solution is totally embedded into the ceilings and the environment. For a glass-steel building, the aspect and the ubiquity is highly appreciated.

Another critical factor is the web-access and sim-plicity of the system interface.

This is a highly innovative solution, due to the combination of JACE and wireless controllers.

Last but not least, the portability of the system means it can easily be transferred at a later date to another location with minimal cost.

The results:Six months after installation it was documented that the lighting system

was consuming 23% less electricity

Previously lighting showed a consumption level of 1.6 MWh daily, which has been reduced to 1.26 MWh (a reduction of 0.34 MWh every day).With the price of MWh at €115, and with 226 working days a year, the WEMS-controlled lighting system can be said to save a total of €8,836 per year (115 × 0.34 × 226). Furthermore, the energy saved from other devices has been estimated at €1,650 a year, hence the total energy saving from the installation is projected at €10,486 per annum.

With the cost to install at €24,500, ING will recoup on its investment in a little over two years.

NEX T STEPSThe customer is so pleased with the outcome of the project that a request has already been made to extend the sys-tem to another f loor.

CLĂDIRE ECHIPATĂ DE TOP Birourile ING sunt amplasate în interiorul clădirii Opera Centre din București. Aceasta beneficiază de o suprafață închiria-bilă pentru birouri de 11.500 m2, amplasată pe 8 etaje. Construită în anul 1999 ca o clădire etalon de clasa A+, Opera Centre dispune de dotări de top, incluzând un sistem HVAC cu patru magistrale de distribuție termică și un plafon sus-pendat cu corpuri de iluminat capabile să genereze 500 Lux. Cu toate acestea, ING Bank a adoptat o atitudine proactivă împotriva creșterii prețurilor la energia electrică dar și în privința reducerii costurilor operaționale și a amprentei de carbon.

Suprafața ocupată în clădire de ING este de 3200 m2, aproximativ 30% din suprafața totală disponibilă pe 4 etaje.

Sistemul Wireless de Management al Energiei Electrice de la DC WIRE ELEKTRO, ajută ING Bank să economisească mii de euro anual la factura de electricitate.

Proiectul în care s-au implementat 18 Controllere WEMS 4, WEMS I/O cu interfață NiagaraAX și 3 Controllere JACE 650, își va recupera investiția în doar 2 ani.

ACȚIUNEAING a invitat DC Wire Elektro să proiecteze și să instaleze o soluție completă de Monitorizare și Controlbazată pe tehnologia WIRELESS.

Întreaga instalare a durat 5 zile și au participat 8 electricieni.

Sistemul a fost propus pentru următoarele motive:

NIAGAR A A X

Pentru aplicații care necesită un control complex și/sau integrarea mai multor rețele, cum ar f i BACnet, LONworks, KNX, SNMP și altele, DC Wire Elektro propune Controller-ul Jace ca alternativă. Acesta are un web server integrat care permite controlul de la distanță prin internet a tuturor com-ponentelor sistemului.

Soluțiile wireless sunt ideale în proiectele retro - f it , cum ar f i birourile ING din București. Tehnologia WIRELESS poate asigura o implementare rapidă și fără întreruperea orelor de program a ocupanților clădirii. Rezultatul f inal f iind satisfacție maximă și un cost mult redus comparativ cu soluțiile cablate.

Soluția este complet ubicuă - f iind disimulată în mediul clădirii. Pentru o clădire din sticlă, aspectul funcțional și ubicuitatea sunt foarte apreciate.

Un alt factor important este accesul web și simpl-itatea utilizării sistemului, datorită serverului web integrat. Acesta permite controlul total printr-o interfață personalizată.

Portabilitatea - posibilitatea de a transfera sistemul cu ușurință într-o altă locație cu costuri minime.

Rezultatele:La doar 6 luni de la instalarea sistemului, s-a înregistrat

o reducere de 23%a costului energiei pentru sistemul de iluminat

Anterior instalării sistemului de monitorizare și control, consumul de energie pentru iluminat era de 1.6 MWh/ zi, ulterior reducându-se la 1.26 MWh/ zi (o reducere de 0.34 MWh / zi).Având în vedere faptul ca prețul unui MWh este de 115 Euro, în 226 de zile lucrătoare într-un an, se economisesc 8.836 Euro pe an (115 x 0.34 x 226).

Mai mult decât atât, energia economisită din alte dispozi-tive a fost estimată la 1650 Euro/an, prin urmare, energia totală economisită cu ajutorul Soluției de Monitorizare și Control este de 10.486 Euro/an.

Costul instalării f iind de 24.500 Euro, ING va recupera investiția în numai doi ani.

PASUL URMĂTORDatorită succesului acestui proiect, a determinat departa-mentul FM să extindă acest proiect și pentru o nouă locație.
