INDUSTRY SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS
“Equip each building with Active Energy
Efficiency solutions, to achieve the best
possible energy performance”
The largest funded program on innovation in the field of
Active Energy Efficiency for Buildings in Europe
September 2008 > September 2012
26 Work Packages – 80 M€
39 M€ funded by OSEO (French Agency) incl. Schneider 26 M€
HOMES PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
Commercial buildings, Office, Hostel, Retail, Education, Residential
Countries: Europe -UK, Germany, Spain, France
Optimize energy supply &
distribution to serve user needs
Improve production &
distribution
performance
Manage energy sources with priority to
renewable energies and free inputs while
respecting network constraints (Smart Grids)
Reduce energy demand in each room by
taking into account comfort & activity conditions
Adapt to occupancy
& activity
Use free inputs Optimize using multi-
application control
Involve people: awareness, improvement,

ENERGY EFFICIENCY & COMFORT VALIDATION
• Build our convictions
• Make the proof toward customers
SIMULATION
• Building virtual labs
• Simulate controls under various
contexts
PILOT SITES
Evaluate HOMES solution potential
savings in real life contexts
(occupancy, meteo, envelop &
equipment)
VALIDATION PLATFORMS
• Measure the technical performances
• Check system capabilities
THE TWO VIRTUAL LAB BUILDINGS
Beethoven office building (500m²): • Air/water heat pump, with controlled pump and
2P-2W FCU.
• Dual flow AHU with controlled dampers.
• Fluo T5 lamp + LED task lamps.
• External Venetians blinds.
Gershwin house (150m²): • Reversible air-water heat pump + older boiler + heat floors +
electrical heaters.
• Single flow, hydro-adjustable ventilation.
• LED lighting.
• Rolling shutters.
• Smart plug.
• Domestic hot water with solar collectors.
• Wind turbine, photovoltaic panels, generator set, electrical battery.
HOMES PILOTS: FIVE REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES
Representative sample
● 4 Clusters
● Constructive periods(1890–2010)
● Energies: 2 heat pumps, 2 gaz, 1 elec

Avancement
Partenaires : SCHNEIDER, CIAT, CSTB, SOMFY, EDF, PHILIPS
QUATRE NIVEAUX FONCTIONNELS DE CONTRÔLE
Niveau
ENERGIE
Niveau
