What is Apollos Effective Skills

course?

A new and unique 6 module course

Who is the course aimed at?

Non-native English speakers

Working (or wanting to work) in an English

speaking environment

Need (or want) to develop their ability towrite, participate in meetings, present,negotiate and use the telephone in English

Why is Apollo launching this

course?

Received requests from HR/TrainingDirectors for a course that develops not onlylanguage but also practical business skills.

We have been working over the past monthswith International House to develop andlaunch a course that meets these needs

This course is new to Vietnam but this approachhas been used effectively by IH London since

the late 1990s

The course has the following

features,

3 skills modules available at Pre-Int. Int. andUpper Int.

In addition 3 optional exam preparation modulesare available to help prepare for BEC

Each module lasts 12 weeks (36 hrs) and costs$180

Purchase of materials not necessary, they willbe supplied during the course

and includes a mixture of,

telephone skills that involve listening, speaking andwriting

writing skills that involve reading, pre-planning,organising and structuring

presentation skills that involve speaking, reading,writing and understanding and answering questions

meeting and negotiating skills that involve all of theabove

This approach will enable you to take what youlearn from the course and use it in real-life

English-speaking work situations.

We will use a method called indigenous (or reallife) assessment, for example,

to assess your telephone skills, we will simulate usingthe telephone with each other in class

to assess your writing skills, we will write to eachother in class

to assess your presentation skills, we will film you

presenting in class

to assess your meeting/negotiating skills, we will filmyou during a meeting/negotiation in class

What certificate will I receive?

For the Skills courses you will receive anApollo/IH certificate. All IH certificates arerecognized throughout the world

In addition if you choose to take theCambridge Business English CertificateCourse and the Cambridge Exam, you will

also have a real business qualification thatcan help you get a better job
