SECTION-A Long Answer Questions : Answer any two questions from this section in about 500 words each. 2x20=40

1. Discuss the trends in agricultural out put during the post - independence period. Highlight the contribution of area and yield to the increase in production.

2. Critically examine forest policy in India with special reference to the National Forest Policy, 1988.

3. Discuss the patterns of the private sector and public sector investment in agriculture since 1980. Are they considered to be complementary to each other ?

4. State the objectives of land reforms in India. How for have these been achieved ?

5. Examine the environmental impact of large and small irrigation projects.

6. Explain how the linkages between agriculture and industry are changing over time in India.

7. Explain the importance of adequate warehousing facilities for agricultural commodities.

8. Critically examine the existing Indian tax policy for agricultural income .

9. Pointout the prospects of agro-processing industries in rural India.

10. Evaluate the performance of the public. Distribution system in terms of its stated objectives.
