After attend- ing Kairos, we began chal- lenging our brothers and sisters to think about the dif- ferent people groups that God has placed here in Taiwan, in our neighborhoods, in our schools that we could reach out to in the name of Jesus. Fannie, a cell group leader in our church, was quick to jump at this opportunity. Recently, the Taiwan government has of- fered classes to help foreign brides learn new skills. One of the classes offered was learning how to make bread. Even though Fannie is an excellent cook and didn’t need the class, but she is from Malaysia so fits in this category of foreign bride. I often forget that Fannie is a foreigner as she has adapted so well to this culture and speaks 5 languages. Praying that God would use her, she at- tended this class and came in contact with several ladies from other countries. Two of these ladies from a Big Country near Tai- wan started coming to church. During one of the services, I saw Fannie sharing with one of the ladies while Chad was preach- ing. Throughout the preaching time, they were flipping back and forth through dif- ferent scriptures in the Bible. At the end of the service, Fannie and Ching-Li came to the front. She wanted to be baptized. She shared that her mother is a devout Chris- tian who attends a fellowship every week. She also believes that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the Living God and has been praying and trying to follow Him. Until today, however, she had never heard that she needed to take another step and be unified with Christ in the waters of baptism and that is just what she wanted to do. Since then, another lady from this same Big Country has put her faith in Jesus. This past Sunday, Yu-Ping joyfully gave her confession of faith and was baptized. Don’t you love days like these? The way these two new sisters will spend eternity was influenced by a willing and faithful servant who took advantage of an opportunity that God place in her life. Could Fannie have said, “I already know how to make bread”, “I am too busy” “I am already leading a cell group, isn’t that enough?” Yes, she could have but I, for one, am glad she didn’t. God has placed each of us in areas of influ- ence and it isn’t by accident. God used Paul and his Roman citizenship, God is using Fannie, who is a foreign bride, and God wants to use each one of us. We must be willing, be praying, and be watching for opportunities that God will work through us to draw others to Him. Sometimes as Christians we think we have to go somewhere to tell others about Jesus but often, God places people in our lives and we just have to be faithful in sharing our faith. Pray that all of us this month, this year could make the most of every oppor- tunity to share the hope we have in Jesus. Pray for boldness, courage and words when we get opportunites. As we share with you how God is working here, let us know how He is working in your area so we can celebrate together! . After attend-ing Kairos, we began chal-lenging our brothers and sisters to think about the dif-ferent people

groups that God has placed here in Taiwan, in our neighborhoods, in our schools that we could reach out to in the name of Jesus. Fannie, a cell group leader in our church, was quick to jump at this opportunity. Recently, the Taiwan government has of-fered classes to help foreign brides learn new skills. One of the classes offered was learning how to make bread. Even though Fannie is an excellent cook and didn’t need the class, but she is from Malaysia so fits in this category of foreign bride. I often forget that Fannie is a foreigner as she has adapted so well to this culture and speaks 5 languages.

Praying that God would use her, she at-tended this class and came in contact with several ladies from other countries. Two of these ladies from a Big Country near Tai-wan started coming to church. During one of the services, I saw Fannie sharing with

one of the ladies while Chad was preach-ing. Throughout the preaching time, they were flipping back and forth through dif-ferent scriptures in the Bible. At the end of the service, Fannie and Ching-Li came to the front. She wanted to be baptized. She shared that her mother is a devout Chris-tian who attends a fellowship every week.

The way these two new sisters will spend eternity was influenced by a willing and faithful servant who took advantage of

an opportunity that God place in her life. Could Fannie have said, “I already know how to make bread”, “I am too busy” “I am already leading a cell group, isn’t that enough?” Yes, she could have but I, for one, am glad she didn’t.

God has placed each of us in areas of influ-ence and it isn’t by accident. God used Paul and his Roman citizenship, God is using Fannie, who is a foreign bride, and God wants to use each one of us. We must be willing, be praying, and be watching for opportunities that God will work through us to draw others to Him.

Team Expansion / Taiwan

“The hundreds of missionaries who serve full-time with Team Expansion all have one vision in common: They are transforming communities by planting churches among the unreached. They help abused children, battered mothers, and disad-vantaged families. They place AIDs orphans in homes with loving caregivers, then track their progress to make sure everything goes smoothly. They drill wells for fresh water then turn around and tell about Living Water. They teach sanitation and hygiene, help villagers care for horses, and outfit impoverished families with goat herds. They provide disaster relief, education, leadership training, and job enrichment. And all the while, they not only share about the Good News of Jesus Christ, they also seek to initiate and nurture church-planting movements. Why? Because the church can and will be present over the long haul, giving hope and help to each community. They carry out all these acts of kindness in places where people least know about Jesus Christ. Because that’s Team Expansion’s knitting. That’s what Team Expansion does. And because you help make it happen, that’s what you do too. Thank you for lifting up the fallen. Thank you for your gift to God through Team Expansion.” Gratefully yours,Doug Lucas, Team Expansion President

Thank you for your prayers as well!

The BIG Picture

One of the things were really appreciate about Team Expansion is their desire to see us succeed as church planters. They continue to re-search successful methods, provide up to date resources and cover our ministries in daily prayer. As Team Expansion has grown as a mission, they have discovered some great tools and have encouraged us to continue to grow in our understanding of how to best take the mes-sage of Jesus Christ to the Nations.

In June, we were challenged and inspired by Kairos Training class of-fered here in Taiwan. From Sept. 19- Oct. 2 Chad has the opportunity go to the Philippines with fellow co-workers Scott Pagel and Peter Bennett to attend Jonathan Training, a highly intensive church plant-ing course designed to help missionaries develop a better understand-ing of their “people group” and guide them to create a unique strategy or “road map” for bringing about Church Planting Movements in the fields where they serve. After 14 years on the field, we continue to seek God in how to better help the Taiwan people reach their own people for Christ.

Why is it called Jonathan Training? Unlike his father, Saul, Jonathan remained faithful to God throughout his life. Because he lived for God’s glory, not his own or that of his father, he attempted incredible things for God. One time, he stepped out in faith and came up against the Philistine army with just his armor bearer for support. God honored his boldness and courage and the Philistines were routed that day. Read the whole story in 1 Samuel 14. Jonathan Training was begun by Overseas Missionary Fellowship (OMF) to train missionaries to become Strategy Coordinators following in the bold and faith filled footsteps of Jonathan. Please pray for Chad, Scott and Peter over the next two weeks as they once again become students and seek God’s will for the church planting efforts here in Taiwan. May God use this for His Glory!

Be Like JONATHAN!

New Life for Joseph!

EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA!

Our good friend Joseph Bai, who who attends our sister church in An-Keng, made the deci-sion to give his life completely to Christ this last month. He has been faithfully seeking and serving God over the last few years. Because Joseph continued to ask, seek and knock, he has finally found the truth he was looking for!

Caitlyn is in 8th grade and playing on the Middle School Volleyball team. Allyson is a 5th grader and has taken up trombone this year! Cole is in the 3rd grade and loosing all his teeth. This next week begins their Spiritual Life Week at school.
