Hello Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you and your family well and staying healthy. We are doing our
best to stay up to date with the frequent educational changes that are occurring locally and
statewide. Each district and school is doing their best to formulate the structure for the rest of
the school year. Please check with your liaison for details on distance learning at your child’s
school. In this newsletter, you will find more online educational resources for your child(dren) to
support their online distance learning. You will also find recommended guidelines
for direct instruction by grade level.

In response to the novel coronavirus crisis that has resulted in the closures of all New Mexico
public schools, NMPBS and Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) announce an ambitious and
vital new broadcast initiative to support at-home learning for K-5 students and all families, by
broadcasting a new weekday morning schedule of televised classes.
Beginning Monday, April 6, APS @HOME, will begin broadcasting from 8 a.m. - Noon weekdays
on Channel 5.1, and posting educational programs on the NMPBS YouTube channel. APS
@HOME will give kids in grades K-5 the chance to resume lessons in key topics, as
determined by the school district.

9 a.m. English Language Development Bilingual
10 a.m. Grades 2-3 English

Continuous learning focuses on critical standards and the skills needed for
grade advancement. Our recommended guidelines for maximum student
commitment in terms of direct instruction each day are as follows.
Additional reading time or storytelling is always encouraged.
Pre-K - 30 Minutes
Grades K-1 - 45 Minutes
Grades 2-3 - 60 Minutes
Grades 4-5 - 90 Minutes
Grades 6-12 - 30 Minutes per Teacher (3 Hours a max per day)

Hello families hope everyone is safe and healthy.
Teachers are working diligently at creating an online space to provide a structured learning
experience with assignments as well as place to be together from afar. Please make contact
with your teacher to get more information and to check in if you haven’t already. Your teacher
may be using ClassDojo or Remind which are classroom apps to download on your phone.
If you are having problems contacting your teacher, please reach out to me so I can help.
